Desslock send this over for a few blast from the past kicks: the Fallout Reviewer's Guide, the document sent along with the Fallout review copy. It explains that the review copy is pretty bugged compared to the final release (according to Desslock, it really was a mess), contains product features and description and - perhaps most fun to read - Tim Cain's hints & tips on starting a new game.

Link: Fallout Reviewer's Guide.

Sorry Tim, I won't take Ian with me.

But it's cool to see one of the FO's fathers talk "how to Fallout".

Can someone please upload it to rapid, speedyshare or some other page because it won't download from this link. Please.

Saying Ian "is worth it" is in fact pretty dubious advice :D

Though to be fair, he's pretty helpful as an extra gunhand until you get Dogmeat and Tycho, at that point he's kind of outgunned. He's handy for early-level characters, tho'

I love how the hints blatantly say "GO TO NECROPOLIS". Thank Frith the game didn't :P

I found him pretty usefull while useing the 223 gun.

Thanks for the great read. I needed that after all those F3 reviews..

A really cool doc. I wonder if it's common for devs give advices on the game. Fallout is not an easy game and there is no need for advices on games like Oblivion but for example I remember some complains about the Witcher being too complicated.

Noticing the bugs and saying they are being fixed should also be common. Instead we sometimes hear that a game which got poor review is going to be better when final.

Once again can we see that the creators of Fallout had approach every game developer should follow.

Hahahaha.
"No stats below 4."

They didn't want people reviewing the game saying, "You know, I think a couple of mentally-retarded kids wrote the dialogue for this game. F+"

"Fallout brings back the classic old school role-playing experience with all new depth and complexity."

Don't get that anymore, nowadays.

Fallout: "Victims don't just perish - they get cut in half, melt into a pile of goo, and explode like a blood sausage."

Oblivion: "Blow yourself up into retarded chunks of dog food."
