Fallout stretching too far.

First time out of the vault
So I've installed Fallout and Fallout 2 on XP, patched them up, and found fixes for all of my problems except for this one, which I can't seem to find anything on: the games stretch past the borders of my screen like this. My resolution is 1280x1024, but the game acts like it's a good hundred pixels wider.

Has anyone here encountered this before? What're some possible solutions?

Nope, tried that. My screen doesn't have any settings other than color/brightness/contrast and positioning. Changing Windows' resolution doesn't do anything helpful either.

What patches and "fixes" did you install, exactly?
What kind of screen and graphics hardware do you have?

Patches would be 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3.4. "Fixes" constitute changing various settings to get movies and sound working, and to stop blackouts. My screen would be, uh, an LCD? And I have a Gefore 8600.

So that'd be Fallout 1, I guess. Do you have the same issue with Fallout 2?

I think your screen might have a problem with the resolution. It would be rather unusual if parts of the picture are actually cropped. What does the "positioning" setting of your screen do? There should be options to adjust width and height of the picture. Some screens have an "Auto" button, try this.

Try installing Timeslips sfall (Forum thread).

Hah, I guess I forgot FO2 somehow. However, it doesn't really matter now.

I'd already tried auto adjustment before, but I figured my monitor wouldn't have actually "seen" anything wrong if I wasn't running the game (dur). So I've done it again, everything's how it should be now, and the monitor (for the moment) is remembering the correct resolution for the games.

That's mission accomplished, then.
