Fallout Tactics Artwork for Fallout Mods

Goddammit Conti…I’m going to have to learn 3D studio Max now, I’m seriously considering rendering the original Fallout 3 scenery, and building the assets (Walls – Tiles) for new Fallout mods. First I’ll need to finish my work for MR and Killap. By the way the gallows are extra delicious…but the proportions do take a battering with the conversion…tiles also look good after their adjustment.

Let me know when you'll want to do it and then I'll import --> export them for you. Map (.tri files), of course. So you won't need to learn Max. I even deleted everything other than .tri files and associated textures with them (+ all valid importers) and upped them on rapidshare in case I'd like to use them in the future, but linkie is dead now, so I'll need to say "Hello" to Dude101 once again, I guess... :D

As for the scenery: most of them are carbon low-poly copies of their sprite-y counterparts from Fallout. Not worth an efforts + I already <s>ripped them off</s> took an inspiration from most of them.

Messa Verde stuff is available both in .g3d (or whatever that shit was, and there's a lot of them) and through the .tri file. Also, only one type of wall, but I don't remember which one right now (junktown shacks perhaps?) + that mountain thingy. The rest in only available through that messy .tri files.

------------------------EDIT

As for the Tactics stuff: I really liked some of the walls/tiles, especially that Junction City (IIRC, first time when you meet Reavers). And I really like Reavers.

Hello and thanks again .Pixote for yet another amazing thing you've done (although a bit late from my side ;D ) I recently found this, downloaded the package, changed brightness and painted a bit over some certain scenery tiles. Now I want to flip them the same as you did here and I noticed you have some reference picture called "overlap white" - would it be possible that you upload it please? I know it would probably be easy to make it myself, but since you already have it done and ready...

Well would be appreciated. ;)

Here is an image file of the Fallout tile layout - all of the art (scale - position) needs to be based on these tiles, especially floors...it helps anyway. Delete the blue and place it at the bottom layer in PS. That's how I work out my stuff and its proven to be pretty useful.

I will get around to changing some of the Tactics artwork in the future, especially the walls - (they are the wrong dimension, basically too short). Anyway use the Fallout grid to help with any new artwork you build. If you do build a new building in 3D make sure that the basic shape fits inside the grid shape - both length and height - (you will need to adjust the frame offset numbers to help position them in the mapper)...that will help with the players position in relation to the structure, and will help prevent the PC moving behind walls they shouldn't. It's best to use the original vault walls as a guide. All I can say is get a copy of Photoshop, and set up the artwork in the program - with the layers, masking, guides, etc...make a master template with the original walls, and work from there. Actually building new walls and tiles is easy, compared to critter building.

Thanks again .Pixote! That's exactly what I was looking for. I've made some new tiles for ruined city maps and there I can test it, yay. :)

And for the Tactics Artwork: Thanks to your grid image I can now easily Transform (ctrl+t) the artwork to the correct angle Fallout is using. Some De-Saturation (FO:T Artworks are pretty bright and too saturated) and maybe some paint over here and there and there'll be nice new artwork, so thanks again! :)

Do you have an example - image.

The artwork must be cut in such away so when you adjust the frame offset numbers the PC can not fall behind it (from the front), but can run behind it properly. Each scenery artwork must be individually adjusted, and that sometimes means cutting a larger artwork into several smaller pieces. But I need to see an image to know how to approach it.

I don't have the image with me right now. It's one of the overturned trains. I'll try to figure it out on my own and ask for help if I get stuck
