First time out of the vault

I don't now anyone who managed to play this through with melee/unarmed.
Recently I made a character with some lategame perks added from the start just to see if it was possible at all - barely, but it was. The final rooms of the Calculator were insane though, and I ran out of small energy cells for my power fist.
Later I realised there were some to buy in special encounters (the Coppertops of course were taken and used up), and of course some to be stolen but my character played solo (with addition of a mulewho also guarded the noth gate of Gravestone) and had no sufficient steal skills level (80 is required to steal at the bunker, and what you can't steal with that is probably impossible to steal).
I had in the end the fllowing perks:
- die hard (for most of the game BUT NOT DURING THE FINAL MISSION) it gives its bonus permanently only occasionally going away
- thoughness*3 (I rarely used drugs)
- bonus HtH damage*3
- bonus HtH attacks
- slayer
- better criticals
- hit the deck
- stunt man
- lifegiver*1
- bone head
- stunt wall
- silent running
- dodger
- loner
As I said I gave myself an advantage, but I think it might be possible to do without that, so I'm ready for the challenge, although beats me if I won't come out short. Any suggestion on perks, use of unarmed attacks are welcomed.
Anyone interested? Or anyone did it already?
I want to take a support-party too to spare on the skills. I'll need a medic, a lockpicker, a stealer. That's probably 2 characters extra, probably Stitch and PipBoy, maybe Rage for steal. Only I'll fight - less trouble with all the area-attacks.
