I enjoyed tactics, except for a few things.
1) The missions took WAY TOO LONG to do. I admit when it comes to a tactical game like this I am very meticulous with the way I play it - every movement is done for a reason. Even so I still felt most of the maps seemed enormus, and took days at times to get through.
2) Beast lords were a bit silly, indeed.
3) I didn't dislike the huge vast amount of weaponry out there, but most of it was pretty much useless. Only 2 or 3 of each type of weapon (pistol, SMG, rifle, shotgun, asault rifle) were useful. I wasn't too fond of the "forced upgrading" feel I got from certain stages of the game (i.e. you have to use laser weaponry on the robots or else you're wasting ammo)
4) (edited in - I just remembered) The lack of co-op multiplayer for a game it would have worked in. I have a group of friends with whom I played Diablo II and whooped it all together (even though they hated my sick sick barbarian). I was hoping we could do that again with this - but nope. The only multiplayer was inherently combative, and didn't really look like anything special to me.
