Fallout Tactics: Which Game Play Mode Most Popular

First time out of the vault
Hi! I just started playing my first Fallout game yesterday.

I have started with Fallout Tactics. I wondered which game play mode was best or most recommended. Turn based, squad based, or continious mode?

Additonally, I love X-com!

If you like RPGs, then for God's sake play Fallout and then Fallout 2. Even if you don't like them play Fallout and you should be converted (or else you're stoopid).

As to which mode is best, you should see pretty quickly which is best. The turn based mode was not properly tested, and as a result, does not work very well. Using turn based just makes the game ridiculously easy. Individual my be useful in terms of sequence, but otherwise it is just annoying to have to wait for multiple jolts between phases in the turn sequence.

CTB

It's what works best.

I do switch to TB now and then, though: like when you have to protect the ghouls of Kansas City against the mutant raid, or when you have to protect them from the Bestlords and various critters in Quincy. It becomes quite chaotic otherwise.

Most people prefer one of the turnbased, but I like the CTB. When things go bad in CTB, things go bad very fast. I find it a bit more realistic and more difficult.

But I also agree with what's been said before. Tactics is the least of the fallout games, and by the end it becomes quite boring.

Fallout 1 and Fallout 2- that's the real tough. Tactics is a commercial rip off.

Mmm i would have to go with CTB, I have tried it in turn based and it doesnt go well if you are fleeing from deathclaws or some other strong melee beast because i think anyone who has played fo1&2 has had at least one time when they have gotten into a fight with deathclaws and every time they move, the deathclaws are able to move more than you and attack you every turn until you can make it(or die trying) to the exit grid. But with ctb as long as you dont stop running the beast cant catch up to you, and if it does it has to stop to attack and you will still be moving so it wont hit you(giving you enough time to climb a ladder or close a door behind you to regroup, heal and make an attack plan against those silly beasts).

In tactics DeathClaws are to easy to kill

Not if your playing on max difficulty, and every hit from them has like a 90% chance of knocking you down.

EDIT: Im mainly referencing about quincy with the deathclaws, after that mission you should be properly equipped enough to take them down.

I normally play most of FO:T in TB mode.

However - if I have set up an ambush, and want my men to attack somewhat simultanious, for instance to save hostages, then I use TB to set up and CTB to execute the ambush.
I have my men move (close combat sneaks close, snipers move in position) in slowly and then I set the aggressive level and hit CTB mode.
A few missions I run almost completely in CTB, but normally - I use TB.

I normally play it CTB. I find it the most realistic!
