Fallout Uno: Nasty Happenings At Boneyard

First time out of the vault
Hola friendos.

I'm very upset because I can no longer progress in the game without restarting entirely (I fear), and it is all because of the bloody Boneyard. I spent some time there talking to some zimmers and some mens and decided that I would head back to The Hub. I went and talked to Harold's looney friend sweepy or whatever he is called and asked him very nicely to take my to the Deathclaw. Boom crash kasploosh end.

It also prevented me from loading back into my latest save which was located at the Boneyard. That make me wonder, because I had no problems in the actual boneyard (I went to the Regulator and Blade home only, and peeked into Deathclaw city). So what changed inbetween me leaving boneyard and asking swanky to take me to the deathclaw?

I tried downloading fixt and of course none of my saves work with that. I don't know if starting a new game with FIXT will allow me to progress past that point, but I'd rather not have to use it at all.

Thanks lads

Sorry I had to bypass the anti url thing, but I am not spamming and so the purpose of the anti spam is fulfilled.

Were you playing a patched version of the game (European version 1.2/US version 1.1)?

I find it odd that you blame the Boneyard when your game crashed in the Hub right after you asked Slappy about the Deathclaw. My best guess is your game crashed because something went wrong when Slappy wanted to take you to the Deathclaw which is on a different map.

If it's a vanilla bug, then Fallout Fixt should fix it, I think.

Harold's friend is Slappy. :D I like the names Swanky and Sweepy though, sounds like new dwarves to befriend the current 7.

And yes, unfortunately Fixt is not compatible with current (vanilla, other mods) savegames. I apologize for this; with such a large mod, this is inevitable eventually. Fallout does not allow save/load of entries with a different number of global variables, and Fixt adds about 100 global variables to the game. This is explained in the installer; do I need to make it clearer? If it's not described sufficiently please let me know, I don't want people to go through the whole install process without noticing the warning(s) about incompatible savegames :(

I am actually confused why it's crashing... there's a reason to get a crash on the Deathclaw Cave map in Fixt, but shouldn't be happening in vanilla or other mods.

1) Did you kill anyone with explosives, either at their feet (dropped) or in their inventory? (reverse steal) - This can cause crashing on leaving a map.
2) It could theoretically be the "too many items" bug, unfortunately there's not much to be done about that bug. You can Google it, sometimes it's fixable.
3) How many Holodisk entries does this character have in their Pip-Boy?
4) Please provide me the crashing savegames. I can take a quick look and see if anything about them looks odd.
5) Crashes can sometimes be fixed by replacing map files from working savegames. In this case there's a couple... you want HUBOLDTN.SAV and DETHCLAW.SAV. Backup the ones in your current save file, and copy those two over from a working save file. It's worth a shot. The goal here is to replace a corrupted map-save with a working copy.

I don't feel I'm being very helpful, for which I apologize. Sometimes crashes in Fallout are pretty difficult to track down.. it sucks. Good luck and godspeed, let me know how it goes. :salute:

Thanks, you two. I was playing the straight GoG version when this happened, and I figured to blame boneyard because from what I gathered from the people of fallout, the Deathclaw was somewhere south of boneyard (which I've also heard causes crashes heh). Also, sistuh, I wasn't saying 'of course my saves don't work (with FIXT) in a sarcastic, mean kind of way. Of course as in it's a mod and it's bound to conflict :). Honestly, you must really love this game. You're bloody dedicated.

Anyway, I done replaced the .sav thingers, and I do indeed love carrying far too many items. It helps that I've a small frame hehe. Jimmy acquired the Vault Loc holo from lady librarian, and another from Mrs Blade (though it's not actually a holo entry -not sure if relevant).

filedropper com / slot07 And there's a trojan for you.

Whether you're being helpful or not, I appreciate it. Thanks lads

Save my Jim boy

Sduibek asked about the Holodisk entries because they're somehow connected with the too many items bug. I only realized this quite recently myself, but at a certain point, when you have 'too much' Holodisk entries and you consult them, parts of your interface will start to disappear and these parts will remain hidden for the rest of the game (the buttons to be more exact). Maybe it triggers other bugs as well, I dunno.

I actually had a dream I got back into Fallout and I remember that all I could think about while playing was what I'd already screwed up (because apparently every second thing there is to do can corrupt everything :PP).
