Fallout1, Fallout2, and Windows 8 -- does it work for you?

Hi all,

I don't have Windows 8 and don't plan on getting it any time soon.... so I must rely on the community here for information.

Do these Fallout games generally work on Windows 8?

I just bought a new laptop with Windows 8 on it and yes, they do work, but I have not been able to patch them with the patches included with the games, which has led to known crashes (the too many items bug eventually killed my game). I don't know why the patches didn't do their thing, I tried a gazillion times. I also lacked music in Fallout 2, but that's because the music files were in the wrong folder, easily solved. Fallout 1 (unpatched) played just fine and could be completed. I just downloaded Killap's RP and will give that a try.

Arcanum doesn't work, though. There's lag that makes the game unplayable.

I currently have Windows 8.1 and i didn't have new problems with any version of Fo1-Fo2-FoT.

Although, i never tried to install it in the "Program Files (x86)" folder that comes with Windows 8.
