Fan Made Fallout screens

I don't like everything I see on those pics, but I love the pic that says "You see: Sawhorse" (Fanmade Fallout 3). That looks very neat, better than most ruins in the original games. In fact, it has the graphical quality of some of the ruins in Fallout Tactics (which were very convincing IMO): lots of rocks, debris, some remaining walls... Nice screenshot that.

The traffic light: is that new art or did I just never notice any traffic lights in Fallout/Fallout2 because I was too stoned whilst playing them?

The Hospital looks a bit... dull. Too brown. And the reactor is too similar too the one(s) in the original games. Still: this looks pretty good. I sure as hell couldn't do this.

Wow...Thanks for that (yes guess who made this...)

We haven't released any new art

It ain't that dull if you see the whole map... :D
edit: ... and tie it with the story...

A bit of elaboration.

We decided early on not to create any art for the mod, no new items or tiles (at least created by the FMF team). Our focus is more on a new story in the Fallout universe.

As for the hospital and the reactor, there really aren't many ways to go about making them, with the existing graphics. We hope they will looks somewhat better in the context of a full map, and not singled out in a screenshot.

Well, with no new art,the best thing we can do is design the maps in the best way we can.If Somebody thinks that has the talent and the skills to make new graphics,we would be glad to have you in our team :)

Those screens are awesome! Great eye-candy work! Only thing I don't like is the tiles in the cave-place, they shouldn't look like they go under the cavern walls...I'd suggest using another tile set.
keep up the good work :ok:

I think grass is way overused in the first screen and tiles don't really go with one another. I mean look at the tile the street light stands on, the curb miraculously dissappears. Similar thing with pavement near the black dude. Sand looks kind of weird too, patterns are included in the mapper for a reason.

Second screen: Sweet.

Third screen: carpet tiles with shadow used in a middle of a room, those should be put along walls.

Fourth screen: Far right, inner bulding wall used right next to outer wall, which looks silly. Too much rocks in my opinion.

No offence but maps don't really seem to reach FO's level. I doesn't really matter though, I just like to nitpick. Hope to play this baby one day.

By now, none is completed.Modding fallout is extremely difficult (to the point of making a full new story/towns/plot etc etc).Minor mods such adding 1-2 towns or a few weapons isn't that difficult and many have already been made.
Hopefully mutant's rising and fan made fallout will be finished (or at least released in a somewhat playable beta or something)

Edit:this answer goes to scatman

If you plan to use those maps in final version then you're setting yourselves up for some bigass overhaul. Unless you don't really care about their look that is. I'd say try to pay most attention from the begging, changing whole map can seriously put one off. Anyway, don't mind me and good luck.

Mapping is now in progress.Polishing the maps to complete perfection will be on the last stage of production. The arreas that we showed are the ones that are *ready* for now.Your comment's were really harsh to the point that might make someon think that those maps suck. They don't! They have been carefully designed and mapped, might more than the fallout 2 maps. Our ultimate goal is to make em reach the fallout 1 lvl and even better without using any new art. That's a veeery tough thing to do considering that this is made by fans and not by any company (we are not paid for what we do)
Anyway,i will also say for one more time that those maps looks waaaaay better when you see them as a whole
I wouldn't comment on this one, because no matter what you do,there will always be someone bashing you,but i thought these things should be pointed (once more)

The tiles dont come with a shadow, you place them afterwards.

To clarify: I don't think those maps suck. If I seem harsh, that's because I care ;)

Snake: I mean those tiles with darker edges (I reffered to them as shadows).

Wow, im impressed at how good these maps are! You can bet i'll be playing this mod when/if it's finished.

Keep up the good work guys.

Ah yes, I was the one who worked on the map seen in the first screenshot. I agree that it was teh sux, that is why i reworked it and built a new one from scratch. No clue why that is shown here.

Care to share this revamped version with us?
Then Odin (or one of his minions) can replace the old one in the gallery.

maybe when it's finished :D

However i liked that entrance very much (especially the small water pumping station, which is not viewable in this pic). Maybe you can put that in the new one.

The map was remade because what it had did not fit the setting and it lacked originality. It was reworked accordingly keeping how it would function as a real city in mind. I'll ask someone
to put up the new screenshots
