Yeah, except GW has an interesting storyline and a decent atmosphere.

Plus, the instance-based gameplay gives me the soloplayer-feel I enjoy.

Unlike "real" MMORPGs like WoW where the only real content is provided by other players, which, given its playerbase, is a fundamental flaw.

GW is one of the few online games I've seen so far that does well without relying on repetitive grind to simulate depth.

WoW is really a piece of shit as MMORPG. There is few MMORPG which really be worth playing. Only kill monster all the time for increasing the pennis size... err, I mean, the character power.
May be Saga of Ryzom, Eve Online, Neocron 2 and SWG offers something different. Let's see what happens with Fallen Earth.

And FOOL

See? That's what I like about GW: you don't grind for levels or items, you grind for skill and storyline progress.

Granted, with shite items and shite skills you'll still get your arse handed to you, but at least you can realistically acquire everything you need to be on the same level as everybody else, character-wise. Nobody can unfuck your aptitude for you, though.

what's the difference between grinding for levels and grinding for skills? :frown:

Well, for one thing, that GW actually has a storyline and that you don't grind for bettar skillz, but merely for MORE skills, which isn't really necessary if you don't simply buy every skill available for shits and giggles.

Essentially, you don't grind at all. If you want certain elite skills (of which you can only equip one at a time), you need to capture them in hard-to-reach places, but other than that all skills are available from trainers in outposts. Beating the storyline is enough to get access to all non-elite skills of the campaign.

Granted, I'd wish there'd be even a remote hint of choice and consequence in it (other than through the mutually exclusive quests), but it's a pretty good game if you want something slightly more tactical than Diablo.
