Favorite Fighting games...

Ancient Oldie

Still Mildly Glowing
So yeah, off the topic of RPG's for a bit; What are your favorite fighting games?

My personal favorites are Street Fighter III: Third Strike for 2D games, and a tie between Virtua Fighter 4: Evo and Soul Calibur for 3D.

Hell, maybe we can even setup an NMA Kalleira tournament if there are enough fans of the genre among ourselves.

DOA. And that's about it. Lost interest in fighting games about the time Mortal Kombat 3 was released in the arcades.

Mortal Kombat II. I can't even begin to describe the sheer amount of fun my friend and I had with this game.

I love VF4 Evo. Tekken is okay, although Nina Williams is hot. Soul Calibur 2 is fine, but it gets stale after a while.

The best fighting game I ever played, though has to be Samurai Showdown. I had lots of fun with that one. I just heard that Samurai Showdown 5, the latest in the series, is going to be ported to the PS2 and Xbox later in the year... can't wait to be reaquainted with Haohmaru and the boys... :)

Fighting games? You mean, games in which your character fights and such?
Oh well, in that case I'll say Fallout.

SOUL CALIBER 2!!!!!!! :D Good solid fun, a weapon master mode, tons of characters, smooth, fluid motions. What more could you want?

Add a couple of crossbow bolts sticking out of the dude's head

Same here, and Street Fighter 2 up until the 'turbo' edition.

Actually, I meant games where you play the role of a warrior, go on an adventure, and kick some serious ass in a series of progressively tougher battles. :P

Awww, man. That is definitely good news. I had heard of Capcom's plans to release SF3 for the PS2 in Japan, but this info has made my day, and including another favorite of mine, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, has only sweetened the deal for me.

Just in time, too. My Dreamcast recently burned out, so I've been deprived of some of my favorite fighting games. Only bad thing about that is the X-Box's controllers aren't well suited for fighting games, but I've been thinking about purchasing one of those X-Arcade rigs.

As for SS5, it's not that bad, but they've changed the controls around a bit, and it's nowhere near as excellent as SS3 or 4 was. On a sidenote, they're going to retire SNK's MVS arcade hardware this year with SS5. After that, they're going to discontinue Neo-Geo development and move on to the Atomiswave hardware.

Soul Caliber and soul edge series for arcade. I have a ban on the current generation consoles, partly because 98% of the games suck and partly because I am not going to get involved in the Evil American Empire's ( Microsoft) little war against the Evil Japanese Empire (Sony). so I can't play them that way until a descent emulator comes out and I have money for a DVD drive.

Killer Instinct
Street Fighter II - Championship Edition
Mortal Kombat II
Mortal Kombat - Deadly Alliance

I'm not very good at fighting games (exceptions being made for Deadly Alliance and Street Fighter II), but those old school ones rule.

Street Fighter 2 was the best fighting game... mortal combat 2 came in a close second.... the rest are all gay because i suck so badly at them.
