Favorite kind of Character?

The most lethal FO1 character I've played is one capable of doing a lot of criticals. Started with luck 9 (raised to 10 by the Tarot card reader in Adytum) 7 or 8 perception and 10 agility. Tagged Gifted and Finesse, with INT 7 to make up for the loss of skill points. That's 20% critical chance with 10 luck and Finesse, plus one or two More Critical perks for a 25-30% chance of scoring a critical a good measure before the last stages of the game. Add the Better Criticals perk and you can expect to be killing Deathclaws and Super Mutants with one or two aimed shots to the eyes with a Plasma Rifle or even a .223 pistol. Even the Master is way too easy to kill with a character like this, even when only weaing Tesla Armor (I'm not a big Power Armor fan).

I've tried different types of characters, notably melee ones with Fast Shot that can attack 10x with a super sledge per round, but unfortunately none match the sheer killing ability of the afforementioned.

What I want to hear about are people who've specialized in throwing weapons just for the hell of it. The skill seems neigh useless.

This is not the first time you made a derogatory remark to me. While I will not take it personally, what did I do to earn your disfavor? Or are you an internet troll who looks to piss people off?

Now that is gay!

No, I'm just kiddin' but i couldn't resist it : P

High ST, AG and IN

I play a lot of different types of characters, but my favourite is an assasin with high PE, INT and AG.
I love the power that an ability of killing from the distance gives to this type of character.

Sometimes he/she is a mercenary, sometimes a heartles assasin, sometimes a paladin and sometimes a character obsessed with saving the Vault.

I like the ability to negotiate as well as take lives, especially when its a den of ass holes. I like serving certain people, especially those that pay well.

Fallout 1 - Decker is my cash cow... I mean I have no love for the Water Merchants and none for Jain and her cause.

I love the Sharpshooter. Can't get enough of it. Also, seeing I generally don't play as a diplomat character much, the difficulty of it does pay for some great gaming :D

I've tried a throwing based character. I don't remember the stats exactly but throwing weapons weren't really that horrible. I made it pretty far before I gave up due to a lack of grenades. Spears and throwing knives are not as efficient as a gun (or fists at the same level) but it wasn't impossible. The damage was lower but with targeted shots and a decent luck, I made it through the beginning of the game. If not for a total inability to find more than 2-3 grenades at a time midway through the game (not even enough for one fight), I would have finished it.

Grenades are actually pretty useful I found out if you have fast shot anyways. They are better than the rocket launcher in my opinion(damage wise anyways). The range is less, but you can throw 3 plasma grenades (4 with the right perks and stats) and 30-90 dmg pretty good. Of course w/o sniper or slayer you suffer a lack of critical hits, but that can be mitigated with a high luck as well as a few levels the More Criticals perk.

It was actually a fun character to try though. It made me wish that throwing weapons hadn't been made to so difficult to use as a primary weapon. It's kind of fun to try. If you did I suggest these stats:

Strength 6
Perception 8
Endurance 4
Charisma 6
Intelligence 7
Agility 9
Luck 7

Gifted
<random>

Perks:
More Criticals(3), Action Boy(2), Mutate!(random trait to Fast Shot after you start using grenades), Gain Luck, Gain Agility, Gain Percption

This is only a rough outline. Beyond 6 strength gives no bonus other than range and 6 is almost max range with grenades anyways. The 2nd trait is there mainly so that you can get fast shot later. Early in the game the lack of targeted shots cripples you. With luck at 7 you can get 10 luck by the end of the game. That combined with 3 levels of More Criticals gives a total 25% chance of to get a critical hit.
