Fbos gets more negative feedback

RPGGamer have tried out Fbos at E3 and their impressions on the game weren't all that good (even tho they mistook it for an RPG), here's some more:
Gameplay itself looked like a bad third-person shooter. All I did in the demo level was point towards my foe and wail bullets into his poor body, followed by more and more of the same. Rescuing civillians broke the monotony, but that's one overused cliche. Eventually finding a key on a civillian allowed access to another area, but it looked like more shoot 'em up fest again once advancing to that area. The game even lacks a targetting system, so I had to actually aim to kill enemies, which isn't much fun in third person.
Thanks to Smit, on of our Forum members for emailing this to me.

Update: I've also gotten word that if we send emails to alternatelives@pcgamer.com and state our opinion about Fbos, they just might write another article about this game.

I would like to add that those e-mails should be well-written and also point out the numerous flaws that F:POS has been going into, although it seems that most sites are going on the right track already given the game's crappy lobotomized state.

Oh, but they are still working on "TEH UBAR AUTOAIMING SYSTEME SO GMAEPLAY SI MMOER BANNAL!"

and to think that THIS game has word "Fallout" in its name. if all this is really true, then Postal is a masterpiece when compared to this shit. it's a goddamn tragedy. someone should set Interplay's offices on fire. and disable phonelines and fire alarms.

Ratty, you have no imagination.

Release wasps into the bathrooms and then put Ex-Lax dissolved into the "Mocha Almond" coffee.

Force Chuck to wear only the thong and run through the suburbs of Detroit at midnight. After he is released from the hospital, and mental ward, have him do it again 12 times. After that, have him soil the thong 24 times. Then force him to consume it. Then skin him alive, roll him in salt, rip out his eyes, cut out his tonue, pull his fingernails and toe nails out, and hang him up by his calf muscles.

Nah, just letting some frustration out. We all like Chuck, right? I'm sure he deserves somewhat worse anyway.

I think a better point to make is how Interplay is handling the negative reaction from Fallout Enforcer. It's pretty easy to point out how bad this thing is, but the real disgrace of this matter is how they're handling the whole situation.

Hey guys, I took your advice and wrote to the PC Gaming dude. Here's a cut-n-paste of what was said over the course of two e-mails sent to him and two replies sent back. Hopefully it made a strong point. PS, these were all sent on May 19th, 2003.

Hello there, and thank you for taking the time to read this e-mail.

I've heard that you might be writing an article about Fallout: BOS in a future issue of PC Gamer. As you've probably guessed from the title of this letter, I'm against this travesty to the RPG genre, and I'm hoping that you are as well.

There has been a strong calling in the online Fallout community for years now for Fallout 3 to be made. Recently Interplay announced that they are making Fallout: BOS, which is not an RPG for the PC at all, but rather a Shoot-em-up for consoles. As you can probably guess, this is nothing but a slap in the face for the fans that already love the Fallout universe.

This wouldn't be too bad, but the developers of FO:BOS have butchered the Fallout theme beyond recognition. They've taken the 1950's pulp feeling into a futuristic sex-n-guns orgy as you can see from the trailers and screenshots. Its hard to believe that they've even played Fallout or Fallout 2 as the storyline that is presented in the movie trailer doesn't match up at all. For example, the girl in the trailer is saying that she was born as the last bombs were falling and looks like she is 20 at the oldest. Fallout: BOS is said to be set sometime between the two Fallout RPGs, but the original Fallout takes place 80 years after the bombs fell. This is only one example of the many mistakes that can be found in this poorly made game.

You could just go to the Interplay forums to see how badly fans have reacted to this game, but Interplay has decided to delete and lock the entire forum dedicated to the game and is banning anybody who has anything slightly critical to say about it. How's that for staying loyal to their fans?

If you wish to see more of how fans are reacting to Fallout:BOS, feel free to visit www.nma-fallout.com and www.duckandcover.net These are the largest fan sites for Fallout online and there isn't any censorship for talking about Fallout: BOS in the forums at these sites.

Hoping that you see the light,

Hey again,

Thanks for the fast reply! Yes, I saw what you wrote about it in the
June 2003 issue of PC Gamer. Surely you must think that such a
dissapointment to the PC gaming community deserves much more than a
small picture and two paragraphs at the bottom of your column. Please
make this much more noticable to the readers so that Fallout 3 may
actually happen before Interplay goes out of business with such
horrible products like Fallout: POS.

Once again,
Ozrat

And just fyi: Fallout Tactics: BOS for PC at least came before the
hybrid the console folks are getting. Sadly, I doubt we'll see Fallout
3, but never say never.
