Fbos is what?

Next Level Gaming is the latest in reviewing Fbos and this review is funny, the reviewer doesn't really give a judgement based on his lack of time:
Folks, this is probably the one Fallout game you want to think twice about. One of the reasons that I have reviewed this game so late is because I really wanted to give it as many chances as possible. I've had the review build as long as most of the other online sites, and I know I'm the last one to write about it. But I really like Interplay and have enjoyed many of their games. And for that, I wanted to take the extra time. But unfortunately there isn't enough time that would get me into Brotherhood of Steel. Especially with Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 right around the corner for the Xbox. And on the PS2, I can't think of anything else but Champions of Norrath because it's online. Fallout fans might want to rent this just for the storylines, but I really think it's worth waiting on this one.
Now where did that 68/100 score come from ?!

Updated: In all fairness, after reading this review a second time it does seem like the reviewer hints about this game being bad and he tried and tried to like it due to the Fallout name and IPLY/BIS name on it..But still...68/100 ???

Bwahahaha. We both posted this with a 3-minute difference.

I'll delete mine

The writer of the review seems to believe Fo:BoS is "a Fallout game"

Annoying fuck

Once Again

Once Again

... Trouble came and whipped my ass, and didn't even buy me a drink. Not because I was outnumbered, or they had guns. No, because my Iron Gloves and Pistol were worthless. And because I couldn't block, the game even at the beginning became a blow-to-blow fight, and I had to hope I could merely outslug 2-3 people at a time. Needless to say I couldn't. And so this was a sign of frustration to come. Believe me, it doesn't get much better, even after getting better weapons. These Raiders are wussies compared to what's out there, and there at times was just no fun factor for me, and I'd go back to my Dark Alliance 2 preview build, which in the gameplay department was much better than the finished version of this game. Sigh. ...

Maybe the frustration level was enhanced to lengthen the game.
'Lionheart' was said to have play balance issues. This the latest trend in gaming?

If this is true, the apologists and purveyors of beige sentimentality for all things I'play, need to come forward and justify tedious frustration masquerading as entertainment.

Once again, I ask is there a game in the box?

Maybe, it's really a remake of "JOYSTICK WAGGLE".

Now now people, greetings! And may I say you are being a bit unfair in this case, which finally led me to crawl from the shadows I've been lurking in.

I just read the review, and it seems clear to me that what the reviewer is trying to express is that with this game bearing the name "Fallout" he really made an effort of trying to like it, but came to the conclusion that no matter how long he played it he would never succeed.

As for the scores, I found there has been a tendency to give high ratings for years, and in the pc mags I once read anything below 60% was "extremly bad" and quite frankly all "decent" games had scores above 70%.
And it did even make sort of sense, since a game could score well in several categoties such as sound and graphics and still be crap overall.
Also, we really need a clear distinction between "I think it's bad." and "Omg, I didn't know you could digitalize shit."

Now I realize the obvious response would be "Well, POS is just that" but let's be honest; our reasons for disliking it are largely subjective. Many people apparently enjoy brainless button-mashing and continuity is generally good only for bonus points. The game could break continuity completly (as POS pretty much does) and still be a good game. So basically POS is only subjectively shit, objectively it's just a bad game. I wouldn't have bought a game rated below 70% unless I had a personal affection with it when I still cared about professional reviews anyway.

So I am saying the reviewer only overrated the game a bit but clearly said he doesn't like it and adressed major flaws. Maybe not as clearly as we'd like but let's not insult everyone who is not in 100% agreement with our opinion on POS.

You could like, try not to look like militant fanatics. :P

The main point is that it's not just a H&S game, it's that it is a shitty H&S game. That is without taking into consideration that it is supposedly a Fallout title.

I do agree that it looked like the reviewer was mixed, and was trying to try to like it, but ran into that thing that keeps Interplay pretty much out of the real console market. They just don't put any real effort and talent into making those games.

Flavor, hype, shovel. There's the new Interplay development process.

I also agree after reading the review a second time (reading all these preview, reviews is a pain in the..erm..yeah), but I'm still wondering where that 68 score came from.

68 would mean is just above average, which is bad but not that bad..

Instead of a more realistic scale of 0-100, most reviewers use a scale most of the idiots in gaming and the reviewers at most media whore rags can understand. That of US grade school education systems.

So a 68 would be a D score (Poor), above a failing grade and just passing average.

I really don't know why those who are not using a decimal system would still use such a grading method.

can FOBOS possibly be that bad? cause it seems like a fucking bunch of bullshit to me from what i've read about it already. THIS WORLD IS DESCENDING TO HELL!

peace

I think that's the case with many reviewers. They see the Interplay and Black Isle logos on a game, and they think "Man, this game sucks. But Interplay and Black Isle? They've made so awesome games before, and I really love them. I can't give them such a low score..I better raise it a bit."
