Feral Ghoul Reavers

First time out of the vault
ok so this topic is just completely random i have 2 questions i want to be answerd in this topic.

first question: why are the reavers so powerful and do not die from anything i waste half my my guns ammo trying to kill threm and they do not die....
second question: How many reavers are actually in the game because i only ever came across two and i think there are more :)

First, because the game seems to become too easy if you are in a higher level, so they were introduced to balance that. I don't know it any explanation about their nature is given, but it's likely it isn't.
Second, I think it's random and the chance of coming across one in a random encounter depends on your level.

yeah could be that but their nature is weird i mean there just bits of skin and bone and they are hard to kill very hard lol.
well i always come across two in a place called warrington trainyard and thats the only place i encounter them :/

The only good reason for the "hard to kill" factor that I can think of is that they seem to be wearing combat armor so they must have been marines or something before getting nuked

Reavers will appear after a given level, and once they do, you'll be able to learn their spawning points.
In essence, there's a never ending ammount of them (which is lame... )
And like others said, their strength is simply so to give you "more of a challenge", that is, more to shoot, shoot and shoot and shoot (which i also find lame :D)

I hate reavers, I think they are just the main challenge for characters on a higher level. It's like coming across a Death Claw when you're only level 15-20, they are a pain in the ass but eventually die.

When I first saw reavers after buying GoY (I had vanilla first, playing on PS3 then switching to 360), my first thought was "oh look, a new type of gool...gonna waste his ass." My second thought was "how the effing hell did that thing rip through my power armor and kill me!!"

Honestly, I underestimated them the first time I saw one, and was killed for it. I do like them though, but I wish they weren't bullet sponges. What bethesda ought to have done is made them different in some way, but not to where you can cap them with 100 rounds and take a quarter of their health; maybe done like they did with Cazadores and given them eratic movement, or firearms or something instead.

Still, despite that, I still like having them in the game. Makes the metro stations all the more dangerous to traverse--and ensures if you DO go exploring, you are a lot more careful about it--like a real person would be. It ALMOST provides the same sense of danger that traversing the wasteland in FO2 did at early levels.

Yeah, I agree--I almost never use it, because it kinda feels like cheating when I can just wander the metro tunnels (or any other ghoul infested zone) unscathed because of a silly mask.
