Fire

Uh. Be careful, dude. Third-degree burns do hurt a lot. I wish you luck. And rain.
And don't let this city burn down. Coimbra is a nice place, not as lively as Porto, but still pretty.

Well if you read this newsbit from CNN you`ll get the picture

http://edition.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/08/22/portugal.fires/

Turns out i live in the outskirts of Coimbra, so i`m posting this with 2 hours sleep. What a night... I`ll post some pics later on, if the energy doesn`t go off yet again.

Here in Aveiro things aren't pretty as well. Now we aren't on the danger zone but still in yellow alert.

Well i made a large post a couple of hours ago, but something happened and it doesn`t show up. So i`ll just leave a few pics from the fires, taken with my cell phone and my digital camera.
Flames show up
Things are out of hand
Fire is further away, things are still dangerous

A better one, from a blog:

You should have cut down the forests and made yourself some furniture while you had the chance :look:

Also, stay safe.

damn, weren't there any choppers throwing water over the place?

P.S.
if it means your life, dont answer ;)

Perfect time for a vacation, don?t forget to bring the barbeque sauce! Roasted Portuguese-on-a-stick!

Hope nothing bad happens. We have like the opposite here. More water than we need. Plus it?s harvest time...it?s always a joy to harvest the grain in a swamp.

Dood. harsh, man, hope you're ok 'n all (as in not on fire and still vigilantly posting here)

I`m fine, but we had a new fire again on an urban area a couple of hours ago. Seems controlled now.

There were so many forest fires that they diverted the planes and choppers to other places. Then night came, the air support went away, and the fire did 20 Kms in two hours, reaching the city limits. It`s like it was waiting for the choppers to be put to rest to start atacking the city. Creepy.

Well the cars that were burned off just 75 metres from where i live can make some nice post apoc prints i guess, the rest would make some ugly furniture...

Yeah, saw it on tv. We should start a weather exchange program...

The tens of sheeps that live uphill on a farm got away alone, left no one knows where, and returned home yesterday morning, with minor burns. Smart animals...

Actually, NATO bombs aren't all that dangerous. You just have make sure to stay close to military targets, and away from marketplaces, schools, medical plants and the likes. Then you shouldn't get hit.
