First time out of the vault
I've searched for a few hours and can't seem to find the answer anywhere, so I'm turning to the experts. :)

I know the part where the armored soldier executes someone is based on an actual event from WWII, but I can't recall the details of it.

Anyone know the details?

Prisoners were shot all the time in WWII, but the Vietnam one was just some guy standing up and another vietnamese army guy (i forget if he was NVA or ARVN) puts a revolver to his head and shoots him point blank.

Wasnt sure if the real image would be suitable for NMA, so here is a more kid friendly image of the scene. (god damn the internet)

Legos are awesome. Thanks, mobucks.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't he the head of a group of people who killed the family members of police officers, and when they found him he was standing in front of a mass grave of eight or so officers and family members? I'm sure as hell not saying that justifies the execution (which it doesn't) but I just want to verify the context.

That is true the man who took the photo later said so himself.

Just thought about adding a reply to mention that clear up as well.

Thing is, it was wartime at that moment, and then things like punishment for terrorist actions are treated different than in peace time.

Street Justice. Although I recall the executioner getting into a lot of trouble for his actions. In retrospect, I think cop killers deserve no better.

I think he moved to the USA and opened up a restaurant (vague memory from a doc):

edit

Yeah he opened a pizza restaurant:

In 1975, during the Fall of Saigon, Nguyễn fled South Vietnam. He moved to the United States, and opened a pizza restaurant at Rolling Valley Mall, in the Washington, D.C. suburb of Burke, Virginia. In 1991, Nguyễn was forced into retirement when his identity was publicly disclosed. Photographer Eddie Adams recalled that on his last visit to the pizza shop, he had seen written on a toilet wall, "We know who you are, fucker".

I think a lot of people who made such comments are ignorant fucks who do not know the complete story, just what they want to believe.

The guy did his job and the man in question had murdered the families of cops.
If not this guy had not shit him someone else would have, again it was a wartime situation and this was a terrorist.
