[FO2] enemies dying for a hit less than their hps

enemies dying for a hit less than their hps

Once I shot a super mutant in the head for 49 hps and he died, I reloaded and shot him for 110 hps and he didn't die and the last time it wasn't an instant kill critical, it just said his head exploded like a water melon, the same with aliens, floater and centaurs. Is this head exploding thing an instant death critical like the time I shot an enclave patron man with the solar scorchers for no hps and still killed him? And does this go away with the awareness perk?

Yes, exploding heads are instant kills. If you want more clearity, you should set your Preferences to less combat details, it'll make it clearer (and less graphic) what happens.

And no, that doesn't go away with awareness.
