[FO2] Guide updated

RE: Guide updated

i read something like that before, about the here and now perk being bugged, never tested it though...

RE: Guide updated

From what I hear this was fixed in the patch. I don't recall in which either, as this bug was in Fallout 1 from what I recall, and when you patch it it fixes that bug. So you wouldn't expect it to return in FO2.

*Word of caution, this is all from memory, and God knows how much we should trust it*

The easiest way to deal with the BRs is probably to take the original file and just rip them out; I think the only places you'd have to make manual adjustments are where there are HRs as well. As for the rest... well, there's blockquotes, lists and tables... and italics. It should be rather consistent throughout. I say we should probably wait until the next update until we give this a shot, though.

Or, well, anything else. Btw, starting tomorrow I'll be gone from the forum (and everything online) for two weeks plus.

RE: Guide updated

The Here and Now perk bug is legit. It does exactly as he explained. Although there were times that I was able to choose the multiple perks just by closing out of the character screen and bringing it back up. I played F2 unpatched for years. Finally got feedup with all the car bugs.

RE: Guide updated

>The Here and Now perk bug

Sorry, I missed this. I'll consider the bug confirmed then, but there's still something fishy with the description as given (level up 5-6 times at lvl 15). Presumably he meant 4-5 times at level 15 depending on whether level 1 counts as a "gotten level" or not, if you get "1 for 3". Do you know exactly how it works?

Also there's another bug/feature thingy that was reported: Marcus wearing Bridgekeeper's Robes. I have a vague memory of reading something about this before, but nothing that could be substantiated. Now someone sent me a screenshot of Marcus' combat settings screen with the Robes (seemingly) in place. However, when I mailed him back asking how it was done, he didn't reply. So it this a rare bug, or is there a special trick to it that everyone can do, or is it a hoax?

I certainly would have if I hadn't had to figure out how to actually do it by myself, but I'll note that it was you who said it could be done (but I bet Starseeker could step in and say "well, us old timers all knew about that ;)). Sorry if I made you feel I stole your secret.

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Sep-05-02 AT 09:42AM (GMT)[p]Nahhh, it was more a qoke from me.

Just glad that you added it.

Also there might be way to get the special boxer weapon. I havn't got it work correctly but if you like to try it out...

When you knock a boxer KO in the ring the match ends. Be quick and hit A and you will be in combat mode when the "judge" appears. Now the hard part. You have to kill the boxer first and afterward you have to knock down the judge on the hex were the boxer lies. But got just one change and if you fail combat ends (can't do anything about it) and you will be teleported out of the ring. The judge is also invinsible (like the chair sitting overseer).

EDIT: And should really post this walkthrough to a walkthrough page. If you don't like http://www.gamefaqs.com , try out the http://guides.ign.com (http://codes.ign.com used to have all the walkthroughs before they "gave" them away to gamefaqs. The codes resources aren't to great any longer to but...why...bothering).

Also you could ask the webmasters of the big falloutpages (like this one or DAC) to put them on their page. Cause if you just keep the walkthrough in NMAs forum board it wont get as much attention as it could get.

I usually put people's names when they provide me with text that I can use with little or no editing, so that I'm putting their words in the guide. If I end up having to figure things out for myself and finding new or different info I'm less likely to think of it as "your thing", so to speak. I realize this is one of the more obscure ones, though. Hm, it'll look odd if I write "it was Frank Horrigan who told me that you can get Frank Horrigan's armour..." :)

I managed to act during the Frank Horrigan desert encounter because of a similar thing. There was nothing to gain from it, though (except 2 Vindicator Miniguns, but unless you cheat you won't be able to beat the soldiers that early in the game).

It's already in the NMA walkthrough section. And this is the #1 Fallout page, right? :) The guide itself states pretty clearly that it can be posted anywhere, so maybe it'll find its way around.

Btw, what would you say if I told you I've found the Medical Supplies in the game (the item that was supposed to lead to the happiest Gecko/VC endings)?

Look at your fo1 guide
:-)
and

Praise you! :7

-----------------------------------------------------------------

So will you also write a walkthrough for FOT, or you didn't like that game as many others? :P

Ah, then you've mailed me before. :)

Except for the demo (which didn't excite me) I haven't played it. It seems unlikely that I will.

RE: Guide updated

Yup

Hehehe, asked you about the rocks in Modoc.

Well I had something to add.

I’ve have posted this before but maybe you missed it or didn’t think that it was so important, but it doesn’t hurt to post i again.

If you kill Stanwell in Redding you will find a very strange glitch item on his dead body. On the ground it will exactly look like tandi barter head (when thrown on the ground) because it hasn’t got any own ground picture either.

In the inventory it has the picture of a buffout, weights ten pounds and in description it says: Don’t use this item.

RE: Guide updated

You will see that I added the Reserved Item to the useless item list, but there didn't seem to be much to say about it so I left it at that.

RE: Guide updated

Hey, don't you be talking behind my back, now, you hear? :D

Anyway, with all these changes, when are we going to see the new updated version?

Oops, forgot to mention, but I don't think it's extremly important. If you want to steal staff from lockers, book cases, but there are people guarding the loot(i.e they go hostile after warning your thieving butt once :) ), then all you need to do is ask any companions you have with you to block their lines of sight. Ask them to stay close to you, and just move around so that they block the people from actually "seeing" you stealing from the lockers. It works wanders for me many times. :)

Starseeker, signing off.

"The final price of freedom, is the willingness to face the most frightening being of all, one's own self."

It'll be a few months yet, probably (maybe not until after xmas), but what's the hurry. I can say already that there will be a few very obscure novelties in it (such a How to Kill People in Modoc without Really Trying and How to Work for Mrs Kitty as a Prostitute). ;)

>Oops, forgot to mention, but I
>don't think it's extremly important.

Actually you did tell me and I also put it in somewhere, maybe the note in Klamath about people guarding containers (Dunton Bros.).

RE: Guide updated

I noticed that you said something about the holy hand grenade of antioch. It does exist but the way to get it is to encounter the knights a second time in this second encounter you'll see king Arthur's knights fighting a rat that is very strong. The encounter is like an area with a cave and lots of rocks. Go into the cave and you'll see a box, open it and you'll reveal the holy hand grenade of antioch.
NB. This is one of the random encounters you get after encountering King Arthur and the knights of the round table.

RE: Guide updated

I don't know if this true but you might want to try it.

After the deathclaws in Vault 13 are slain by FH, you're supposed to sell the location of Vault 13 to Tandi.

That's in the current version already. Check NCR quest 10.

It's held by most that you can't get this encounter without tinkering with the game files, either because it was cut by the designers (like so many other features) or because of a script bug. As far as I know no claim of getting it has been verified, and such claims have been met with ridicule and/or hostility on this board in the past. :)
