Jet cure and doctor in VC...no dice...

The doc in VC doesn't ask me to smuggle in jet. Also can't access database in his office (Doc skill around 57%, Int is 6, lev 4). Even when I used Jet to open a door to get ammo and supplies, this dialogue won't open.

I would be SOL in this game if it wasn't for cheating in my gambling escapades. I must be doing something wrong, as everything costs $$ (money I wouldn't have save for gambling cheating) and I am relatively weak as well. Still getting thru quests, but wouldn't be able to complete some of them save for my pile of cash.

RE: Jet cure and doctor in VC...no dice...

i think your reputation is something to do with this
quest... not sure, but i think that your reputation
has to be quite low to get this quest from vc doc.
i got it just once...

RE: Jet cure and doctor in VC...no dice...

I had a Karma of around 400 when I talked to the Doc. He asked for some Jet. So I went out and got it for him. I was around level 10.

RE: Jet cure and doctor in VC...no dice...

You have to have an 80% doctor skill to access the medical database. I don't know about getting the jet quest, I've never seen it.

Money is pretty tought to get until you can start killing people that have guns and then sell their guns.

RE: Jet cure and doctor in VC...no dice...

Well, all I do is gamble. my gambling skill is around 130% so I can get up to 50K money in just a minute or two. Of course, my finger hurts after a while...
All I take is ammo... no guns, unless I need them...

RE: Jet cure and doctor in VC...no dice...

Bringing in jet for Dr. Troy to find the cure won't get you near as much experience points as finding out about endorphin blockers from Myron and then talking to Dr. Troy. Of course that requires a high speech and science...

RE: Jet cure and doctor in VC...no dice...

I think the patched version doesnt have this quest for some reason. yours might be patched.

RE: Jet cure and doctor in VC...no dice...

I've been offered the quest in the patched version.

RE: Jet cure and doctor in VC...no dice...

What was your character like? How did you get citizenship? what were you wearing? what patch was it?

RE: Jet cure and doctor in VC...no dice...

My character was female, ST 4, IN 9, DX 10 (after Gain DX perk), LK 9 (after NCR zeta scan), CH 7 (with sunglasses), EN 4, PE 8, with gifted and fast shot traits. (If I remember right.)

I got citizenship by fixing the Gecko reactor: Get the mission from Lynette, talk to Howard the ghoul to find out about the needed part, talk to McClure about fixing the reactor and getting the needed part, go back to Gecko and install the part, then go tell McClure I fixed the reactor and he gave me my citizenship.

I was wearing the vault suit. (I'd stashed my armor and other stuff in Cassidy's place so I could have room in inventory to loot the vault.)

It was the 1.02 US patch.

I'd visited Dr. Troy a couple of other times before he asked about getting the jet for him.

Luck 9 after NCR or San Francisco zeta scan? What're you talking about? Whenever I get the zeta scan, I LOSE a luck point...

The person said they cleared the bad thoughts in my mind. What's that mean? The only bad things I've ever done was kill Tubby and Flick in the Den... but I think they deserved to die...

The Zeta scan may either boost or lower your luck. If it lowers it, load an earlier game and try again. The one in San Fran may also raise your intellegence.

RE: Jet cure and doctor in VC...no dice...

My first post. WHOO!! =) The Zeta Scan in NCR brought my Luck up from 6 to 9. Don't know about the SF one yet, cause I *cough*haven't gotten there yet*cough*.

Anyway, I got the Jet Quest once, in a pre-patched game. Haven't gotten it since, I think because you need Myron to admit a cure exists. I tried getting Myron to admit that there's a cure, but a speech of 11% doesn't help things much. Strangely enough, this is the only time that a lack of speech skill has actually had an effect on the game, for me at least. Anyway, the lack of jet quest is kinda annoying.

I'm kinda new to F2, so I'm not up on all the tricks and everything, yet. I...uumm... haven't even beaten the game yet... But I'm learning. =) Any good FAQ/Walkthroughs that people recommend? I'd like to learn all the little strategies/cheats/other kewl stuff that everyone seems to know except me.

Also, I am loaded with weopans, ammoe, and more weopans and ammo. My trunk is FULL, and so is the inv of almost all my NPCs. On top of that I have $25k, so I'm not short on case. What can I do with it all short of dumping it on the ground... that would be SUCH a waste. Is there anywhere I can go to trade some of this stuff off on expensive shizna, or maybe more cash?

RE: Jet cure and doctor in VC...no dice...

Yes! Get your gambling skill abover 100%, dump your items, and then goto Redding or New Reno and gamble till you have 100K cash

Just weigh down the "1" key, go have a snack, and come back to your computer and you'll have tons of cash

Or if you can, weigh down the "1" and "5" keys to increase cash gainage by 20 times.

Dont look at spoilers and walkthroughs. The game was fun for me until I knew everything and got bored because the game was always the same and I did all the quests in every town and got so powerful and combat was too easy and so just dont look at that stuff...

I only read spoilers and walkthroughs after I beat the game a few times and want to do something new, or if I get stuck.

RE: Jet cure and doctor in VC...no dice...

First of all, a correction. My luck went up 2, not 3. I could have SWORN I had 6 luck to start with, oh well.

Now then, what IS the gambling "cheat"? I usually go to the Den with my 25% gambling skill, spend about an hour making Hardaway Bets, and make about $20k in that time. I only do that at the beggining, so that I can afford to get the SMG, a Hunting Rifle, buy off Vic, and pay for the other littel things that take up money at the beggining of the game. After that, I just make all my cash from looting the people I kill. Is there a better way to make money so that I don't have to lug around these 50something guns with me whenever I want to buy something?

Right now, I'm at lvl 17, and my car trunk is FULL with guns/ammo, as well as myself, and Marcus, Sulik, Cassidy, and Vic. I think I'm gonna take a quick trip to San Fran, and trade as much of it off to get Combat Armour Mk II. Nothing else I can think of doing with all of this.

I only started looking at the walkthroughs/etc. after I got all the way to San Fran and started wondering if maybe I missed a few quests or good items along the way. Imagine my surprise when I found out how many things there are in the game that I never even found out about because of the initial stats I chose. Looking at walkthroughs is a good way to find out the best way to start out the game so that you can experience the most out of it. I never look ahead of where I got to in a walkthrough, though. I don't want to spoil the game, just experience more of it.

Uhhh

How the HELL, could you have been in VC and just be level 4?
I ussualy are at level 10 or 11 when i get there.
