vault city slaves

i know this seems silly but i've just arrived in vault city and talked to the woman inside the tent near the gate about her locked up husband i found out that vault city's punnishment for doing nearly anything wrong is to turn u into a servant (read slave) I'm trying to play the best goody goody charater freeing slaves and doing right wherever possible and i was wondering is there a way to stop vault city doing this or is it all corrected in the end of the game (i asume its the same kind of ending that fallout had i.e junktown: killian darkwater cleans up, life under him is fair and safe...) ALso when i encounterd some traders hauling slaves across the desert i killed the bastards and freed the slaves HOW COME MY KARMA WENT DOWN???????

Not really. Joshua (the guy you get freed) is really he only one you can get freed. You can't get them to stop doing it totally, but you can get an ending where VC gets knocked down a notch or two and put in their place by other communities. Of course, which ending you get really depends on what you do later.

Yeah, see, slavery isn't really looked down upon by lots of folks. I've noticed killing merchants and caravans tends to lower your karma, regardless of how they act. There are a bunch of caravans where you get the "Hey, I've heard of a goodie-two-shoes match your description...buzz off" treatment, but yet, your karma STILL goes down if you off them. I mean, they trat you like that, they are OBVIOUSLY evil, so you should off them, right? :)

RE: vault city slaves

r u sure i sure wouldn't like to have to kill everyone in vault city to free them. and for a game that relies on you being able to play it either black or white i consider the fact u cant free them (or so u say) to be quite shitty u know hhhhmmmmm how do u get that taken down a notch ending??/?

Even if you kill everyone in VC, you can't free the slaves. They all just kind of stand around. No matter who you talk to, you can never get a chance in-game to totally stop slavery. As for the ending:

***SPOILER***

Well, ok, it's not a GOOD spoiler, but still. :)

You basically have to learn the VC is running low on power, and can't expand. Don't optimize the Gecko reactor, don't give anyone in VC the economic data from Gordon in Gecko, and don't discuss power problems with any of the VC people. Also, I believe you have to get Redding to join NCR instead of Vault City. Having Vault 15 and Redding join NCR makes them much stronger. Eventually, you wind up with the ending that says something like "Vault City weakened, and eventually joined NCR, where they were treated as second-class citizens" Nothing really major, but nice to see them get treated like that. :)

RE: vault city slaves

Why are you asking questions at the board? Isn't there a walkthrough anywhere Mr. Butt?
