[FOT]Condition:Can see?

Death03

First time out of the vault
How to use condition "can see"? And,how to know a player's or a unit's sight?I used to be "seen" through a wall by my hostages...

I don't think they're seeing you through the wall unless you've got some gaps in there, more like they're hearing you. Perception is more than sight in FOT.

I'd use the 'can see' condition in conjunction with a zone, so set up a zone then use the can see condition but instead of at anywhere choose your zone. That'll prevent the trigger from being tripped too early.

Then you mean that being heard also will be considered as be seen?
Another question, how to know the"sight" range?
Thank you.:-)

Well a character with a perception of 1 can still see an entity up to 67 floor tiles away. The same character with a perception of 12 can maybe see a couple of extra tiles, I'm not sure about that though, I haven't kept all my test maps. The only thing is, as long as there's a clear line of sight (no walls or objects in the way) the npc doesn't even have to be facing your character for the condition 'can see' to still work.

Faint...these guys in FOT have eyes at their back...Ok,I learned what to do now...
Question NO.n  Is that possible to make a laser sword in FOT?Like those in starwars?:-)
Thank you.

Well they do and they don't. In terms of walking up behind someone and they being aware of your presence then they won't be until you get in close, (probably hearing range) but for the purpose of the can see trigger they do.

Yes and no, you can make an inventory weapon that looks like a laser sword. You can make the entity use energy cells so it does energy damage, an requires the energy weapons skill.

But if you're talking about making a energy blade appear in game then not really. You could probably make a continuous projectile that the weapon would fire, so it kind of looks like a blade. Getting it to line up with the angle of the generic knife or melee weapon default anim at rest, so it looked like it was attached might be possible. I doubt though you'd be able to get the projectile to match the swing of the melee/knife attack, I don't think there's enough animation frames in any of the projectile sprites and without the official sprite editor you can't add animation frames or create a sprite from scratch.
