FOT to F2 conversion

I am working on a FOT to F2 conversion. This may not have the exact plot of F2 (where's the fun in that) but will include the old items and playing style (you start with your character and convince people/things to join. and combat is that thing that happens when you get a "job")

This has been difficult due to the lack of a built in speach system but not impossible (levels like "what is honor among thugs" is an example). My current problem is the addition of character sprites. I need a tutorial of how to take F2 sprites, edit them to comply with FOT standards, and re-spriteify them.

Little help?

Also how would I simulate the "speach" skill? I can do speach options but not the acual skill.

Maybe it would be more interesting to change the story. I'm sure the people at the FO3 board would be more than happy to supply you with a list of the million things you CAN't do in FO and the 8 that you CAN. lol :P

Also, why bother using the old school sprites from FO2 anyway? There are equivelant ones in Tactics, aren't there?

This is virtually impossible. Get used to the possibilities of using what is given with FOT. You will not have a completely faithful copy of F02 but make do with what is there.

I am not sure what you mean. Do you want to create dialogue options like in Fallout or are you talking about just usage of the skill.

When I say the speech skill I mean the old speech skill from F1 & 2.
The skill that is needed to be convincing (in both lies and truth) when talking. If you played Fallout you know what it did in detail (or you should) I allready have examples of how to do dialogue options

As for the sprites Combat armor looks most like Enviro armor but Enviro has a breathing aparatus. The BOS eldars wear robes but those robes have a big logo on them. There is no equivalent of the old tin-can powered armor. All tactics armors look new and shiny not old and juryrigged like the original ones.

As for plot I though a lot about it and decided that your character comes from a community of creatures (super mutants, ghouls, deathclaws, and even the occasional humans) that didn't fit in anywhere else and thus live together (in a vault?). They have some problem, or mabey the character is just restless if we want to be original.

For the sake of balance all characters have pros and cons.
"Normal" humans get no modifiers
Revars get better gear but are feared (and will be attacked if seen armed)
Beastlords can get animals in their party but are regarded as freaks
Ghouls are true to tactics and are also called freaks (yes ghouls still will get 42 points without gifted)
Deathclaws need some bonus (mabey make unarmed effective?) and are feared
Super Mutants are feared but the resulting attacks wont do much now will they

Even though FOT doesn't have the speech skill there are similar things that you can use. A trigger based on a certain amount of Charisma could work, or maybe a requirement of certain perks like salesman, or how about reputation or rank?

The game sounds interesting and you should definitely go through with it. It is feasible to have many dialogue options like Fallout had. In my Quartz map I tried to make several paths through the game depending on dialogues with some of the NPCs. It worked very well and can even get more advanced with the use of dialogue sprites. Of course it takes alot of work but if you want a meaningful game that shouldn't matter.
