Gameplayer Fallout 3 week

Australian Gameplayer starts up a week of Fallout 3 "exclusives", previews and stuff. The first feature is a general presentation and retrospective going back to 2004, with about three out of nine pages devoted to the aggressive reaction of "rabid fans" in spite of Bethesda's loving approach to Fallout. Bethesda is a "house of geniuses" possessing admirable "honesty and openness", Emil's quest credentials and talent "cannot be questioned", and so on. They are simply doing everything right. V.A.T.S. is something that builds closely on the original game and represents a creative departure from Bethesda's usual techniques.
In the end, Bethesda has embraced this franchise as only it knows how, with flair, creativity, respect and ingenuity.
As usual if you've read one or two previews you'll have read this already, but there may be something interesting to come in the following week.

So if anyone's wondering if this can be termed "rehashed sycophantic drivel" then the answer is HECK YES.

The info that you can change the colour of the PipBoy's screen from green to something else was new to me, but I haven't been following the news closely, and it seems pretty stupid anyway.

Like Per said, the (imo rather irrelevant) Pipboy customization was the only new piece of info. The rest was just as meaningless as 90% of the previews out there.

When I try to go to Bethesda's homepage they always ask me to click some things to submit my date of birth, which I do as quickly as possible since I don't think it's any of their business, and then they tell me I can't enter because I'm only two years old, and then I have to go and chase down and kill that particular cookie if I want to make another attempt, which is considerably more work than it is for an actual two-year-old to submit a birth year of 1967, so I don't know what is up with that.

The colour thing is a little less stupid if it's a meta-setting and not a feature of the actual PipBoy, but it still makes about as much sense as allowing the player to set the colour of the vault suits. Vault suits are blue and yellow, electronic displays are green.

I find it absolutely ridiculous that they focus on putting this kind of insignificant modification (along with the "mini games"), when there are many more aspects they should be focusing on.

That's why you should use firefox with a good cookie manager extensions. Besides easily blacklisting malitious/unwanted cookies, you can quicly erase the current webpage's cookies. I recomend CS Lite.

I thought they swallowed the whole load. They DO swallow the whole load when it comes to info about the game, so...

Too much hype. I feel overwhelmed.

I really hope that the next articles are a bit more interesting than this one and contain actual informations or at least screenshots because not only was it an uninteresting read but also a very tiresome one.

I was about to say how bad this article was, but the following sentence says it all:

The radio stations are just one example of how deep Bethesda has delved deep into this world.

I agree but then again "PimpBoy 2000" might be very appreciated by a large percent of the target demographics...

In the end, Bethesda has embraced this franchise as only it knows how, with flair, creativity, respect and ingenuity.
