Here we go:
Just before the war, many sought refuge is massive underground bunkers called Vaults. Once sealed, the Vaults are sealed permanently -- nobody enters, nobody leaves. This is the dark world of Fallout, a cult hit on the PC in the late 90's and now an upcoming action-RPG from Bethesda Softworks, creator of The Elder Scrolls series.
(...)
Fallout 3 is set 200 years after the bombs dropped, some 80 years following the first Fallout. You begin the game in Vault 101, a facility that lies beneath the bomb-blasted surface of Washington, D.C. -- a similar setup to past Fallout titles. But rather than start as a standard low-level character, Bethesda breaks role-playing convention by putting you in the satin-laced booties of a toddler.
(...)
Visually, the game already looks phenomenal, and is far, far more detailed than the already stunning Oblivion. Bethesda is promising virtually identical graphics and performance between the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC versions as well as simultaneous launch dates. Fall 2008 is a long ways off...but we have a hunch that Fallout 3 is one game worth waiting for.
Link: Fallout 3 preview on GamePro.

This is why i stopped bothering to buy any PC mag, or reading any of the online ones.

Preview - look at the awsomsauce graphics, this game will rock

Preview - the graphics suck, so therefore will the game.

And then when they do get round to actually reviewing a game, the reviews always tend to be shorter than the previews, ill keep my money thanks.

Edit, 13 posts, hmmmm should i stop there......

Wow...

GamePro manages to continue it's existence?

I thought the magazine was disbanded after a massive survey proved that GamePro was the written equivalent of a drunken frat boy party.

This counts as a preview? I couldn't read much with all the "PRETTY BLOOM AND GFX" comments in my way. People use inductive arguments the wrong way round here. Everyone goes Obvlivion > Morro wind so then Fallout 3 > Oblivion, while in fact it's Daggerfall >> morrowind >>> oblivion... guess where that leaves Fallout 3..

Please don't tell me these guys got invited to a Bethesda press release.. I sincerely hope they just siphoned stuff off other sites cause if they let people like this is but refuse BN and SuA..

One of the comments:
and oblivion with guns does sound cool
What's the average iq for people using the internet again?

I would guess somewhere around....100. The Oblivion fanboys just have different interests then most of us.

I have to ask.

Whats all this buisness with.

"once sealed, the vaults are sealed permanantly"

Its nonsensicle

one can only guess that the objective of the vault was to remain sealed as long as possible.

but i'm guessing it is also a ploy to increase intrigue and stuff. (like no one evah left ze vault and your father like totally runz off! zomg!)

True. Not all Vaults were sealed for 200 years. Vault 13 was. Mostly Vaults were to open after ten years. Some later, some sooner.

wow. so fallout 1,2 is a cult franchase of 90's? cool. it is nice how everybody start to reminding that since f3 upcoming. Or it is just another automatic preview sentence that was typed only because it has to be?

For some reason i have been getting gamepro free for years, and I don't even read it. 9 times out of 10 it goes right in the trash. But there are people who still pay for this?

And on the preview, it could not be more hype-tastic i don't think.

It's kind of an obsolete marking scale anyway. Sure back in the day when I was playing my commodore 64 if a game had good or bad graphics it was a real importent issue. But to be honest everygame has great graphics if you want to be realistic about it. As long as the graphics are tidey and you can see what you are doing, then who really cares? Sure some console jockey might, but he's not a real gamer anyway so his opinion is like tits on a bull - completely useless.

All I'm saying is that years ago graphics reached a point where they are all basically good enough, the only real issue now days is game play, but then all those years ago the graphics were so socking that developers had to rely on solid gameplay to make the game succsesful.

Also if graphics are so important why isnt a game called a graph? I kind of think 'game' implies that there should be 'game play'

Vile "super mutants" prowl the sewers

Now they had to have a fucking excuse for us to crawl through sewers. Mind numbing uselessness of "dark" sewers where they can easily take the sewers from Oblivion and "copy + paste" into Fallout3.

We're talking about hardcore versus casual/compulsive/obsessed gamers... Fallout fans versus Oblivion fans. Generalizing OC...

So, the differences you speak of, they are understandable, they are to be expected, and they are to be respected, but it doesn't invalidate the point that they are a bunch of asses...

Yeah. wtf?

Yeah. They are the reason that Michael Bay gets to make films, and the reason that game companies focus on graphics.

And though you'll tote a variety of shotguns, rifles, and laser carbines, Fallout 3 isn't a first-person shooter...at least, not exactly.

a carbine when referring to gun is a type of bullet. lazers dont use bullets so this is incorrect.

and wtf... that was just a short blurb anyone could have written up reading the previews of people who actually wrote stuff on the game. wtf was the point of them writing this up other than to make sure they were in the clubhouse of having done something.

just stupid.

And I doubt laser or plasma weapons have rifling of their barrels either. Give it a break, laser carbine is a lot less of a sin than say laser smg. Besides my copy of the COED defines a carbine as a short fire-arm for cavalry use.

I see a fun parody on you tube developing... All we need is someone with a Ron Perlmanesq voice, some 1337 Bethsoft photo's ... and a whole lot o' laughter.
