Gamespot gameplay video

For some reason it doesn't seem entirely rational to me to make the point that an RPG is more than just combat, and the go on and say that this game will be a horrible RPG based largely on 5 minutes of combat footage.
...
Also some,*some* of the complaints and criticism I'm seeing seem baseless.

Instead of taking things out of the context and nitpicking obviously minor details and not the main points that they were used to illustrate, how about you give us your insight and answer the questions I asked at the end of that post?

"As you can see, there's a lot of things one can find that are wrong with this game. Now, if you really like it, could you please name me some things about it that are right and original and more than barely sufficient? Some things about Fallout 3 that can really justify the amount of hype this game gets?"

-Blood bags!
He was pretty clear in pointing out that he had the Bloody mess perk. Is there something that you don't understand about that, and what that trait has meant throughout the entire series? Yeah I think it's stupid too, that's why I never pick it.
It isn't so much that the concept is stupid (I personally love the Bloody Mess perk, if you couldn't guess from my avatar), it's that Bethesda's execution of it is terrible. It should be clear to anyone with a pair of eyes that the death animations are horrifically bad. That's what people are complaining about - how retarded it looks when peoples' limbs appear to be held together with duct tape and fall apart with a small explosion of blood.

Go play a recent Resident Evil game and watch a zombie's head explode after a headshot. That's what a "bloody mess" should look like.

-They're not showing off the RPG elements!
Neither did Fallout 2 when it was in pre-release hype mode. The trailer for that game shows only combat as well. In fact most games do this. I don't know why, but it seems like it's the easiest part of the game to get across in 4 minutes.
If the combat didn't look so godawful, then showing off nothing but the combat might be more forgivable. As it stands, all I'm seeing is an average FPS with good graphics, bad animation and crappy AI. Am I supposed to be excited over this?
