GameSpot's Hands on Fallout 3

Well if you will pay attention to the quest, it isn't to get food to eat, it is to get the food so she can determine if it is still edible for her wasteland book.

You blast through my entire post to nitpick a detail at the very end? Does that mean you at least agree with the other things, or are you trolling me?

In any case... exactly what huge consequence is it to my point that you have to differentiate between a question of "can I eat this?" and "is this edible?"?

What? Shouldn't that read "Rad-Away"? Hope it's just a previewer screw-up and they didn't merge the two chems.

IIRC RadAway was in one of the gameplay videos.

Solar Powered makes more sense if it's part of a range of acquired mutation perks. Relatively speaking.

I hope one of the more advanced mutations will be to turn into an argonian- er I meant lizard person. :P

There isn't going to be any food in a super market 200 years after an apocalypse, it's the first place that's going to be stripped.

Except when it's in a nonsensical, non-verisimilar world. Prediction for the next excuse: Maybe the raiders are part of some Super-Market Preservation Society and are dedicated to keeping the merchandise intact and inside the store just like in the good old days.

What food can survive 200 years and remain edible?

But anyway in FO3 it seems to go in 20%. (0, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100). Where from 0-20 you wont be able to do anything what that skill and 20-40 you suck but not as bad, and 40-60 you are ok with them, such as explosives where you cant defuse the bomb w/o 40% in explosives. So when leveling it should be trying to get to that next tier? Just wanted to confirm with some of yall.

It does look like that from the various previews. Not to mention the fact that you get to see all the various levels you'll need to reach, so you can keep a list of all tiers you will need to reach.

Also there seem to be various skills that are much more important than others. Decent Lockpicking, Science, Speech and Repair come up so much in all the previews that they almost seem required.

Also, that mutation thing sounds to me like a reward for that particular quest instead of a radiation-related gameplay feature, since the shopkeeper sends you out specifically to study its effects.

That would be a somewhat decent way to implement the mutation powers. Still, I'm not that big a fan of it. Sounds too much like pandering to muchkins.

MRE's. Sure they say the shelf life is only three years, but after about eighty years the things go from disgusting to delicious.

Meals Ready to Eat, officially. They're the field rations that Army (and probably Marine) soldiers get when they're off-base doing... recon...or somethin'. Though the unofficial de-acronym-ing of MRE is something like "Meals Remotely Edible." For obvious reasons.

Ah of course... I have a hard time imagining the Finnish army's version lasting that long though. Can food and pasta and other junk... liver paste(?) and hard rye bread... pea soup?

Was a bit of a random thing what your pouch happened to have in it.
