Gamestop just lost me as a customer forever...

it's a promotion, packed with the game, that would lead people to a direct competitor with their own online game delivery service.

all told, if you had a product that you were planning to sell in Walmart and you decide to package it with giant Target discount coupons, you should expect Walmart to 'alter' the offering.

It would have made more sense for the publisher to just offer a vanilla packaging option for distributors to use in case they don't want to advertise for someone else on the products they are putting on their shelf and in the front of their stores.

Yeah, I just bought it from bestbuy because gamestop are jerks. If they don't offer full refunds to the people who bought it (or give them the cards), they're huge jerks though.

Fuck Gamestop.

I stopped buying shit from them about 10 years ago when I found out that the store I had been going to was selling used games as new.

I can't wait until digital distribution shuts those assholes down for good.

Yeah, Gamestop is balls. Very rare that I buy anything there. Only when they have a $20 sale or "Deal of the Day" I can't find anywhere else. As far as used games go they rip people off about as much as Futureshop or any other place does.

Remember Game Crazy? That game store that not only let you try out used games, but also gave you a good amount of money for your used games? Of course not. A few months ago during free comic book day they gave me a game crazy bag to put my comics in.

Sorry... if I buy a "new" game from a company it had better include everything that I paid for it.

Opening a product, removing something from the box, and then reselling it as "new" is wrong.

so...

i go to game stop, buy this game, and then because of the hurricane i dont open it.

then after the hurricane when im restocking supplies i see that steam/target/walmart is selling the game at a huge discount.

technically i never opened the game stop box, so i take it back and try to return it "unopened" for a refund.

game stop says they are sorry but cannot accept opened merchandise, and then refuse my return.

I swear I've bought used games at f.y.e. that looked newer in comparison to the so-called "new" games from Gamestop. That was years ago though, I've limited my business dealings with Gamestop after I sold them a couple of used games. I hear they're not that bad if you know someone who works there, but as luck would have it, I haven't and still don't.

oh, just for clarification, my post above did not actually happen to me, but i see it as a distinct possibility to happen to someone or something.

I don't know how Game stop is still in business. Their selection isn't any better than any other store, their "special content" isn't really all that special, their membership sucks and the prices on used games is nearly as much as everyone else has on new games... even on older titles.

Typically, I buy my games at Hastings, Game Point, and Wal Mart. My one bad experience (pre-order incident) with Game Point was rectified in short time.

Gamestop has always sucked. Overpriced. Although, that could be said of most game stores.

Gamestop is really only worth it for finding games (used) that you can't elsewhere. When I bought Deus Ex I almost went in there to point out how their shenanigans lost them a customer but I decided it wasn't worth it.

Haven't bought a boxed game in over five years.
And I don't ever see myself going back to them, either.
