With the GCDC (Developer's Conference) well underway, Gamernode uncovers an interesting panel with Don Daglow (Stormfront Studios), Mike Capps (Epic Games) and Julian Eggebrecgt (Factor 5):<blockquote>The panelists were more than kind, offering numerous words of praise. Capps responded by saying that he loves the press and that they listen to games writers because, "the press knows games and they know what's going to sell."

Moving on to the hardcore users, Capps said, "We take their complaints seriously because we need to keep those guys happy because they're the ones who are going to sell it to another one and a half million users who aren't so hardcore."

Rounding out the discussion Eggebrecht brought it back to the press and was the next to offer his praise saying, "The press isn't the enemy. If anybody thinks the press is the enemy, that's stupid. These guys are usually as passionate, if not more so, than you you yourself are so work with them."</blockquote>Link: Developers: "we absolutely love the press" on Gamernode

Of course they love the press that gives their games consistently high marks.

Well this is the most ridiculous thing I've read in a long time.

I somehow get the feeling when Capps is talking about the hardcore fans he doesnt mean us but probably the TES hardcore fans.

Afterall why stick with TB/iso view when they(the hardcore fans) clearly want a shooter-hybrid.

Kiss And Tell At The Country Club Cotillion

Kiss And Tell At The Country Club Cotillion

Once upon a time,

to paraphrase a marketing slogan,

'twas ''"By gamers, for gamers"" ...

Bethsoft's - now serious - eyes - on the prize, no crotch scratching allowed,
revision: ""By game dev's, for game dev's "".

After this '07 Developer's Conference -- love fest?

""By game dev's, for the game press"", Tru luv for teh win!!1!

And the third party "hard core' apologists, perhaps after all that marketing love, get the pick of the litter in the X Box.

Tru luv for teh win!!1!

All weepy about this happy - pointed - ending of this love triangle.

Now that the free market of the game entertainment industry has been vertically integrated for optimal dollar minting acceleration,
values clarified,
ready the consumer for a LIFEBOAT SITUATION,
- berths - for TEAM players and TRU Deceivers only-
AND the consumer will just have to sink or swim.

...

Actually, I apologize, know better than to finger ANY group with that absolute unit digit.

Some hardcore web persona, dev's and game journalists will forever shine brightest,
BECAUSE they are the exception to the prevailing rule by the lowest common denominator-s.

Smok'em if you got'em, heroez 'n' hero'inz'!

No stems or seeds,
27 grams courage, in this OZ.
stiffened by 1 gram integrity ...
a stand tall, and be true weed.
...

What is lacking in the accumulated 'daze in the life' of these dev's and hired scribblers?

Why the DESIRE for warm and fuzzy communion?
Why does differing opinion and passionate disagreement, stress these professionals to distraction?

Not happy in their work?

Career changes looming in their futures?

Fine,

get a parachute and take the leap ...

welcome to the working week .

Anyyone who's ever worked in sales or marketing knows that word of mouth is the most powerful marketing tool out there, albeit usually completely unpredictable or uncontrollable, and the strongest supporters of any one thing are always the people to spread the most word. But marketing is something that has to be fought on multiple fronts, appealing to both the hardcore fans and the magazines at the same time garnishes a really high revenue.

Now Pete has gone from the chairs being four pixels high, to two pixels. Does this jackass even know what a pixel is? Does he listen to himself?

After the part where the interviewer asked Pete about gore and he responded EXACTLY how you'd expect a stupid 12 year-old to respond, I couldn't stomach watching it anymore.

I'm with you on the "gore" response.

He seems like he's not even familiar with a lot of the questions.
