quake665 let us know in this thread about a new HalfLife 2 mod in the works, called Gehenna:<blockquote>After the world has suffered terrible social and economic disasters, all that remains left to roam the empty city streets are daring adventurers, the first since the Renaissance (and sparing those in the space explorations of the mid Twentieth Century).

A brand new world has been opened. However bleak and foreboding it may be, there, somewhere, slumbers hope -- one day the world will return to a state of relative peace.

Enter Las Vegas, the year 2051. Several factions struggle for power, for survival, for freedom. Water barons tax the dehydrated poor. The Vanguard sweeps the inner city for stragglers too weak to survive. This is a world desperate for heroes and heroines.

If they could make the mod with quality storytelling that HL amazingly supports (ever played the mod "They Hunger"?) then this could at least be interesting if not memorable.

Now I have a reason to buy Half-life 2 though I despise action games.

From the screenshot it looks like skills will be incorporated...very nice. This could be really cool if it's ever completed. Keep up the excellent work
 
I really dislike MP games. :(

The concept seems really interesting, which is why it's a shame.

At least i think so.
 
Glad everyone is showing at least mild interest ;)

The game will be role-play enforced, whereas no OOC talking, emoting mandatory etc and GameMasters will be present to run real-time quests.

For those that do not like shooters, combat will be slowed down somewhat and the skills one chooses directly affect recoil, aiming ability and damage. Therefore, those with 'natural' skill and fast reflexes will be unable to dominate combat (unless they choose the right skills of course!).
