General Discussion

I wish there were more people here willing to offer opinions on many of the topics you post. Much as I disagree with King, at least he has convictionst hat we can bitch and moan at and just debate over. I wish things here were more like the old YoP on Interplay forums :(

Meh, I don't like too many debates.

Debating smells of working.

And I don't come here to work.

LOL, that's why I haven't been by in a while. This forum just ended up taking up too much of my time.

WHAT THE FUCK!!!

I just finished reading the rest of this thread, and I can't believe that there is someone here who would actually want to institute a theocracy in the US?!?

Oh, and let me add that the Anglican church is just about as relevant in English politics as the English monarchy; they're both just ancient relics that are around because of tradition. Not to mention that the Anglican church was formed because of politics and a King's desire to get a divorce.

Maybe it's time I pulled out the good 'ole logic bat one more time. Now where's that thread... :D

Also, another thing that made me stop posting on these forums was that it was always buggy on my PC, as I've already double posted a number of times today ( to Odin's irritation I might add) and this is the second time that I retype this post because I lost the first one. Not to mention that in the past I've lost several long well thought out replies, which was frustrating beyong all belief.

EDIT: Damn, it happened again. Delete my last post please.

I'm sure Murdoch was jokingly referring to this thread by King/Paladin Solo. Read it. Some good laughs in there.

That was fucking hilarious.

Some highlights:

the whole first post.

elPrez- "the Prez cant do all that by himself."
Paladin Solo- "Aye, but he could make a damn big difference. I would need the help of others though, like Russia, Great Britian, Jamaica."

PS- "I would push for a galactic defense system from outside force we can't control (solar flare, comets, meteors, asteroids, aliens , etc...) and start cheapening the price to send our trash to the Sun so one day, the sun will be the galactic waste dump! "

PS- "Well, the only people I would kill is terrorists, but if you argue against that, I wonder if you are one."

PS- "No we don't have the largest military in the world, in fact, we probably aren't even in the top ten. I think China has the most, but they can't do squat without those nukes."

POS- "India, who is currently at a cold war with them could take on China and win within the first year. China is just a big target for nukes if you ever go to war with them. But yeah, they would cause casualties on a mass scale, hmmm....(AO note- here comes my favorite line) perhaps if they get more nukes a DRAFT would be NEEDED."

This is definitely Something Awful worthy.

As for my thoughts on the board, I think that it should stay the way it is; talk about anything you want, as long as it isn't about Fallout.

Seriously, although I know that it's sort of hard not to throw your two cents into certain discussions, I definitely wouldn't agree to censorship. I've already been to several general discussion boards that have been "sanitized" so that certain heated topics aren't discussed and, quite frankly, that sucks. Plus, this is one of the few gaming forums that you can visit that actually has a semblence of intelligence when it comes to these topics.

I say keep it the way it has always been.

I agree Ancient Oldie. The fact that I can swear (fuck! shit! ass! bitch! cunt! whore!) makes life that much more...expressive too. I just wish people who disagree and take such IMO outrageous position could more clearly articulate their argument. But of course if they could, they probably wouldn't take such outrageous (IMO) positions. Catch-22.

Paladin Solo: Yes, I was alluding to your argument, and again I see I must clarify my position. I saw your argument as, overall, promulgating (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=promulgate) an institutionalized American religion, which can be construed as a theocracy. But of course you decided that we weren't worthy of your time, so I guess I'm talking to everyone else who wants to have an intelligent debate.

Well personally, being an advocate of free speech, I don't mind this forum getting a bit hot.

THe problem is when it gets too hot and people start getting insulted and decide not to come in. Ideally this forum should attract people to share ideas, not to dissuade them from speaking because of a fear of getting flamed.

So there has to be a balance there somehow. I think Briosa and Kharn are a bit heavy on the silencing. Personally I haven't locked down a thread yet and the only posts I have deleted have either been by request or for links or pictures that weren't working.
