Ghost towns

There was one in Orlando that was supposed to be worse then this one in Tally, but it was tore down. Guess what was built ontop? A fucking playground...*twitches*

I wish I could go back to Sunnyland before I shipped, but its such a long drive.

Scariest place ever! Ajes!

Wooz, that place looks a lot like a mission in Socom 2. What did you say that place was? And where do you live again?

Dunno, never played Socom 2...

The place is an abandoned heating plant that used coal as a fuel. There are pretty big furnaces inside, along with coal chutes and a wrecked crane, not to mention all the water tanks and pipes.

I live in the outskirts of Warsaw, Poland, so no chance to get a cheapass bus from Florida :P

The movie "Avalon" was filmed in some abandoned factories in Warsaw, too. The Japanese just couldn't find the appropriate crumbling, rusty heap of wasteland scenery back home ;)

Yeah, for Fallout 3 it'd be cool if they'd make so many random encounter towns and such, that you could feel like youre actualy exploring ruins.

Has anyone made a mod for FO2 like that ? That'd be cool.

Gravedigging this so as to link you to a list where you can find an abandoned city to visit near you.

The Taiwan park is pretty retrofuturistic. I like the Kowloon Walled City the most, though - we should send the makers of Fallout 3 there for "inspiration" :)

I think that finding ghost towns while exploring the Fallout universe should be a common occurance, especially if it's set in California like FO1 was.

Sure, there probably wouldn't be anybody living in them except for the occasional loony or gecko, but I think there would be pre-war tech and artifacts laying about, unless some scavengers beat you to it.

Perhaps you'll find a hidden vault door in one of the basements? Who knows?

This is something I thought Fallout 3 actually did well-- abandoned houses found in between cities had stuff to loot, and there was at least one completely abandoned town. In the previous games you could find abandoned houses during battle sequences but there was never anything in them.

Hidden vaults would be cool. One thing I'm surprised hasn't made it into any games (1, 2 and Tactics) is storm cellars/bunkers. Especially in the midwest you'd expect to find such things.
