Google Chrome

Pentium 4 you say? Two years ago I used a even more older computer and even there I used Firefox. ;)

/Edit: Of course, if your computer is already affected by a shitload of virus and trojans, it can be even more slower. Heh.

as mentioned above, Chrome does a lot of tricks to get that performance rating. it's a memory hog, a bandwidth hog, etc.

so it does come at a price.

ill stick with opera

so far my biggest gripe with opera is ad blocking... it doesnt handle it very well and sometimes it can be tricky to get rid of the word context popups, but i can almost always find a way to stop those as well.

i have not tried installing any Fx plugins to my opera even though most people say they work great.

First of all, Fuck google. . Yeah I still use google, but as soon as I get my own place and start having some fun again I won't.
Argh cant find the movie about google now!

And secondly, fuck google chrome.

And no I don't give a shit if they "bent to criticism".

Why would you even consider using a browser from one of the worst companies on the net?
It's just so big and popular one has to use it...but new alternatives are on the way.

This is just too stupid for words. Worse than the intrusive adware companies? Give me a fucking break.
It's hilarious how people like to rail against a company as soon as it gets big.

Yes, Google uses private information. If it wants to offer the level of suggestions and service it does, it needs to do that. They limit the data retention and have actually responded to all criticism they've gotten in the past.
They don't link the information to anything but your IP address, which is hardly private information.
You can object to that, and think that that's not okay. Fine, then don't use the service. But demonizing them as one of the worst companies on the net is retarded.

Chrome is a good product. Google is not the devil. I see no reason not to use Chrome.

It's like it's laughing at my face when it says "don't be evil".

So stop being a wise ass and read the report from privacy international. Among the big companies it's the worst in privacy (worse than Yahoo, microsoft, AOL and even FACEBOOK which is basicly steals your content) and since I value my integrity and my privacy above some fucking adds or nigerian scams that always fail.

And no, Google being the size it is it does huge amounts of damage and it did among other things include ADWARE in the freakin browser you're applauding while taunting the "adware" companies. Worst is that these companies aren't even considered companies by most but pseudo-criminal entities while the google CEO is invited to international events. Hah.

Thanks for the epic lulz.

Oh and just a question. If they don't link any information to you, how the hell do they give you "personalized adverts" (which made them so wealthy). No, the 2 year cookies all the fuss was about weren't cookies on your computer, it was on their massive databases that know more about us than our own mothers.

I read the report you linked, wise-ass. Their description of Google as 'Hostile to Privacy' is based almost entirely on the idea that IP addresses, without being linked to people are private information (which I'd disagree with). For the other part it is based on the somewhat unclear language in some policies. Yeah, real fucking evil there.

They aren't doing anything illegal or even morally questionable here, and if you don't like it you can simply not use their products. Again: saying that this is 'evil' is ridiculous.

It didn't include Adware, but it does use its usage statistics to better aim its Google Adwords ads. That's it. Describing that as evil is ludicrous, they aren't murdering babies here, or even selling your private information, they're just providing properly targeted advertising.

It's simply an advertising convenience (and frankly, I'm going to see the ads anyway, might as well be useful ones).

They link search queries to an IP address, but don't link the IP address to personal information, smartass.

It seems to be pretty reliable so far. Adblock, IE tab, and even spell check. Everything that's in firefox. Except when a window crashes just one crashes, not all of them.

you know, i wrote a huge ass fucking post about the stuff in here, and then i fucking realized this was a gravedig.

im not going to delete all the shit i wrote so ill do it in spoiler tags.

motherfucking necros.

However, I love firebug/other firefox plugins too much to leave firefox.

have you looked into if firebug is compatible with opera?

lots of firefox plugins are compatible with opera.

Am I the only one using IE8? Why is everyone so in love with firefox?

i havent upgraded my IE to 8 yet, i still use opera for everything other than certian pages.

personally i hate firefox because of the security holes.

and the biggest problem with the security holes in firefox is the mozilla core. "browser security" websites do not list all the problems in firefox because they are not problems IN firefox, they are problems in the standards that firefox adheres to via the mozilla core that causes the security holes. so while "firefox" doesnt have the security holes, the standards it blindly adheres to do. most noteably are the vulnerabilities in firefox/mozilla via its blind java implementation. other browsers dont adhere to the standards blindly like mozilla does ( probably due to being closed source, they dont have to and can protect their browsers ).
