GTA IV will have DRM

I completely understand the reason that companies utilize DRM, and it makes sense. Unfortunately, DRM itself doesn't. The only people DRM truly affects happen to be legitimate consumers, forcing them to deal with irritating and restrictive "protection" schemes and sometimes bogging down in-game performance while those scurvy dogs keep YARRing games without having to deal with that shit.

It's for those reasons (and convenience) that I sometimes use 'cracked' executables with the games I buy.* As a disclaimer, in no way do I condone the pirating of software - if you want to play a game, BUY IT. Even so, this kind of situation makes me feel as if I'm being punished for what other people do. I certainly appreciate companies that refrain from using DRM, such as Stardock.

Piracy happens, and always will. It isn't fair, but it's the cost of business. :?

Bought it on PS3. I mean, much as I'm a PC fanboy, those games are just better with a gamepad, and my Sony PS3 gamepad is better than my logitech one.

The game does have a controller support. You can play it with a xbox 360 gamepad on any pc.

I played Vice City and San Andreas with both K&M and a gamepad for PC. Both work fine for me, though driving is better with a gamepad, and shooting was SO much easier with K&M.

Their SecuRom usage, to be honest, is fine. I certainly don't have a problem with it as DRM usage goes (it comes with the territory)

Here's why I won't be buying GTA IV any time soon*; Games For Windows Live and some nebulous new application that doesn't seem to have any function called Rockstar Social Club are both obligatory to install and run while the game is running. Both are intrusive, and RSC is even an application that runs outside of GTA IV. I'm not entirely clear on if they're both necessary for offline play, but my instincts are saying: bloatware? No thank you.

*Ability to resists GTA IV from Steam pending.

I won't be buying it simply because it's an unoptimized piece of crap (worse than fallout 3).

System requirements trump even crysis by a huge margin, and it runs terribly on high-end rigs.

Ok, I'm officialy removing GTA IV from my 'to play' list :?

... Really? That sucks. Screw that, I'm waiting for Saints Row 2. Sounds more fun anyways.

I couldn't get into GTA IV... I really liked San Andreas, and I found that GTA IV took itself too seriously.

And I was so sick of my cousin calling me up and yelling about "American titties..."

God damn idiots. They release unoptimized piece of shit along with tons of DRMs and then when a "super awesome game" isn't selling on PC they blame it on piracy.
Hey dumbasses- how about improving the quality of your shit?

The sleep mode on the cell phone helps a great deal.

You still have to turn it back on to progress the story however, and that character annoyed me. I wanted to let the loan sharks kill him.

WHAT?

You cannot actually be serious.

Do you have any idea of HOW LONG IT TOOK TO RELEASE A COMPUTER THAT WOULD RUN CRYSIS ON EVERYTHING ON MAX?

Two years. And that computer costs around Four Thousand Dollars or more.

I can't... I can't simply... IMAGINE a computer game heavyer than Crysis... it's... it's... it's... impossible. I can't simply understand HOW a game can be heavier than Crysys.

They rushed porting this one, i remember waiting till the summer of the following year for the previous GTAs.

Does anyone know if there is an extra fee for multiplayer?

It always got released the next year because the console version usually went out in October/November. It was still approximatively 6 months between the console and PC version.

The thing is that for this GTA the people who ported it are different than the people who made the game.

I believe there is not fee for multiplayer.

In any case the game is very bugged. A ton of people are having issues.

Yip, reviews and public reception points to this being one of those releases where it's best to wait - driver conflicts, bugs, badly optimized. This game needs a couple of months of work.

Eh.

I'm in no hurry, I'll just wait.

Sloppy porting.

Trainwreck is more like it, considering the fact that the Playstation 3 can't even run Crysis on anything other than 800x600 and Medium.

I always wondered what a budget range and time period might be to fix a "finished" products, especially in the case of ports where the products already made tons of money and they are just milking it by opening up on the computer market.

When does a company like Rockstar actually says fuck it, I am not investing anymore funds for patching?
