Had an Idea.....

after reading Stephen King's Night Surf It's the short story that he wrote that The stand is supposed to a sequal too. It's about a couple kids who have survived Captain Trips (the superflu).

Anyways, It's really short and i wish there were more short stories about random people who survived. Then i thought i would right a story about what i would do if the superflu hit right now. Thought it might be intersting if a few people did the same. You be the main character and everything in your life is true up to the next 19 days when the flu hits america. And then just make up a story of what would happen.

So, you're proposing a writing-contest, ey? Guess that could be kind of interesting...

Then i thought i would right a...

I believe the word you're searching for is 'write', or I'm just not getting some essential english structural-rule.

Not really a contest per se.... but each person's story would be unique becuase we all live in different cities across the world if each one of us seperately survived captain trips our own personal chain of events would be different and i think each one would be an interesting read.

Okay, I see -maybe I'll start working on something when/if an idea comes up. However, it's kind of misleading if you write...

You be the main character and everything in your life is true up to the next 19 days when the flu hits america.

...because I'd have no greater interest in writing about America; the nationality idea, however, seems more interesting as it gives different point of views from around the world, and could give a more nation-friendly version of the Super Flu striking.

thumbs up. great idea!

I love the stand (actually tried to buy it on DVD a few days ago. My VHS version is getting tired. Out of print though :( ) and would really like to see similar stories. Giving it the different nationality aspect it could feel like episodes from a tv series.

Yeah, sorry I meant when the flu hits throughout the world. You know how Americans tend to have a mindset that America is the entire world.

Actually, I'm starting to get that picture too (not really).
Well, time to get the 'ol creative part of my brain back running, and hopefully I'll come up with some ideas.

Somebody tell me the use of this thread, or it goes straight to the boiling vats of green goo.

Well, if someone is writing a short story about the named subject, it will probably be posted here when it's done.

*Is* anybody writing a short story?

I'm trying to think out a proper plot; if I come up with something good, I'll probably start writing. Concerning the others, I have no idea, but I doubt it.

My prognosis? This thread will get dipped sooner or later. :D

My contribution:

CAPTAIN TRIPS VISITS BELGIUM

When the superflu hit Belgium, I had diarrhea for 19 days.
I shat so much, the toilet looked like a cement mixer.
So my momma asked my little sister to clean it out.
Which she did. With her fingernails.

THE END

:D

That's Pulitzer Prize material, my friend, that's Pulitzer Prize material...

<sigh>

Isn't the Pulitzer Prize only for journalist-based writing?

The Pulitzer Prize, pronounced /'pʊl.ɪt.zɚ/ ("PULL-it-zer"[1]), is an American award regarded as the highest national honor in print journalism, literary achievements, and musical composition. It is administered by Columbia University in New York City.

Sorry, my bad, guess I learnt something new; the only work that I have seen that is referring to this prize, is Superman (Louis Lane).

On that note, weren't you working on a book or something?

I just told my publisher that I was suffering from a depression and asked for some more time to <strike>finish</strike> begin the book.

I'll probably just get a regular job, marry some ugly cunt, knock her up and get old. It's easier.

My artistic days are over. :(

Apparently not :)

Are we THAT 'dip' crazy these days? I thought this of all places might be an appropriate place to post my idea. I just thought it would be a cool thing to do. I'm in the process of writing one - don't know about anyone else. Dip away if you want...
