Half of the Tactics team FIRED?? (duck and cover news articl

RE: ey johny angel

At this point, there's no telling what the truth is, so I guess I'll withold blame for the time being. If it turns out Interplay did in fact tie Micro Forte to the railroad tracks, you can tell everybody what I moron I am.

I think you are all taking it WAY out of hand. This kind of stuff happens everyday. I want to express my sincerer regret to the Microforte Team, and I do feel bad, but people have got to realize that lay off's happen all the time. I know people are going to be sad, and angry and stuff. But it's almost a circle of life now-a-days, it happens all the time.

These are my thoughts not yours

Agreed, but there's still a valid point to all this:

1. It's done in a blindside maneuver by someone, as it caught most of the MicroForte team by complete suprise. That would explain the sheer level of 'pissed' that was explained present in the #V13 chatroon. The timing was shitty, to be honest. That's what most people are upset over. If there was a bit of forewarning a while back, that would be one thing. As it stands "Thank you for the game, but we are going to renege on our letter of intent."

2. Interplay had made a letter of intent that was known to be good up until right after FOT went gold. As far as MicroForte knew, they were in line to support more FOT stuff like a sequel and add-ons.

3. Flipper. The video game. Seriously, what the fuck? That's one of Interplay's planned titles. They haven't even waited to see how well Tactics does before cutting off the prelims for a deal of follow-ups and then they are going name-dropping on Flipper. That show has been redered hideously cliche by now, and it's probably going to be as much of a flop as the Josie and the Pussycats live movie. It's this odd shit that has many people pissed at Interplay, because they axed Vulcan Fury when it was about to be released and then released a few shitty games that I can't remember off the top of my head. THAT pissed off quite a few people.

5. Fact is, Interplay keeps turning the Vindicator to aim at their own foot. Their business practices over the years are laughable. They are easily comparable to Eidos - who pumped dozens of millions into Ion Storm for the continued development of Dick-a-tonna (and Deus Ex had about the 1/10th budget cost of Daikatana), and then LGS gets the cut. LGS, who was the creators of Theif and Thief II, not to mention System Shock 2 and numberous other games as well (even for console - Destruction Derby 64). Whereas Romero's primadonna has-been ass gets the dough continually handed to him. That lost respect for Eidos, and it was the sloppy handling here that is leading Interplay to lose repect and integrity.
