Has someone played Machinarium yet?

Hello all,

On Steam the game Machinarium is now offered.
I remember that there was some interest in this game when it was still in development and I would like to know if any of those people have bought this game and played it.

So what did you think of it, and can you recommend it to other people?

If you've got a strong love for point-and-click adventure puzzle games, then you'll probably love this. It's easily the highest quality indie game (graphically) I've ever seen.

Gameplay... eh, it's REALLY fucking hard. I'm more at home with rpgs and shooters, but holy shit this game kicks my ass. You're going to need a lot of patience with this one.

Oh, and if you use CCleaner, make sure you disable cleaning for Adobe Flash Player under the applications tab (enabled by default) because it will eat your saves (as I learned the hard way).

I've played it for a few hours. I agree that its good, but...

Well I don't know. Back with Samorost 1 & 2 there was this really specific zen-like feeling combined with some nice almost surrealistic art. The music fitted this half-nonsense quite well. I'm not sure yet, but I haven't been enthralled like that by Machinarium, though I've only played for an hour or two I must say.

What I've been slightly bothered by is that the game doesn't offer any story elements, well, at least not in the first two hours I guess. Perhaps after I've played it a bit more I'll get some notion of a story, but right now it's just a funny little robot running around solving puzzles. I liked it better when I had to rescue my dog, my own little planet, or whatever it was that I was supposed to do in the Samorost games. It's been a while since I've played those.

Just played the demo, amazing style and attention to detail. Try standing around doing nothing, then watch the various scenes that unfold.

Just beat it. Besides the immense difficulty, and at least three separate occasions where doing a puzzle out of order results in permanently breaking your game... without notifying you of said breakage; it's a good game.

the art style looks amazing. i might give it a try. do you guys think it will run good on a netbook with onboard GPU?

Well, it runs through Adobe Flash Player; so I'm sure you'll be fine.

Here's the system requirements.

OS: Microsoft® Windows® XP/Vista/7
Processor: 1.8 Ghz Processor
Memory: 1GB Ram
Hard Drive: 380MB Free space

Played it for around 2 hours and really like it so far. The art and especially sound are awesome.
I agree, it is one of the more difficult adventures I played recently. But while it's difficult it's always (from what I've seen yet) a logical solution. Logical in it's own, weird way at least hehe.

Thanks, I will definitly give it a try.

Just finished it. Really nice. Though too many puzzle mini-games if you ask me.
It's really more difficult than both Samorost games, but mostly you can think it through. Nice art style, some really good moments.
And music is awesome too.

So I'd say if you like classic point-and-click quests, this game is a must play.
