The PCGamer issue of May (huh?) has an article on a new game being made by Flagship Studios, which is made up of a load of developers who are best known for their work on Diablo 1 and 2:
Setting: Modern day London, with a post-apocalyptic twist
The game is set in a demon infested London, 5 years after an epic battle between the demons and the human race. Guess who won. London was chosen because of it's "natural dungeons" such as subways, aqueducts, and left over bomb shelters from WWII. And yes, that was St. Paul's Cathedral in that concept art piece.

Storyline: Linear (but not quite so linear as Diablo II)
They say it will be linear, but less linear than Diablo II. This will be done by having randomized paths and quests that the player can take. Like in Diablo II, the surroundings will be generated randomly, so that it has the replayability of their other games.
It sounds like another Diablo, but thankfully we might also hope this won't be yet another weak Diablo clone, but rather an Action RPG of the quality of Diablo.

In this thread we learned that the April issue was out in February, so it makes sense.

Aye, the PC Gamer time frame for issues is a little... askew. The game was described as essentially being a first person shooter, but with stats. So an RPG of course! (That was their logic, not mine).

Character's appearance will be customizable in sex and looks.

What game doesn't? I hope they'll expand on this theme and let me modify my character's genitilia or bust...or both.

I can just imagine:

-How can we justify another implausible set of random demon infested dungeons?
-Subways are like dungeons! Yeah! We can make some subtle social commentary!

God. I can't imagine how anyone can enjoy this kind of game.

They are still playing around with the direction of their skill system. One idea is to have a maze-like system that eventually leads the player into a subclass of the player.

Everything about this game sounds like a mix of all the crappy aspects of other games. It's like a grab bag of suckiness. We have the crappy combat system of morrowind, the superficial skill system of FFX, the nonsensical story setup....gra

its ok Jabb...

ever since the RPG's have gone onto computer format nobody (i'm sorry... the majority of developers) hasn't had the intelligence to make anything out of their own creativity...

besides, these games are designed by producers, who just want to make money... so in the classical sense of making everyone happy their only thought process is...

This game did this good, lets add that
This game did this good, lets add that
This game did this good, lets do our version of it
This game sold really well, what can we take from it?
This game sold really well, what can we take from it?
I love the cock, so how much can I make this game suck?

etc...

Actually the people working on this title left Blizzard becouse they had no say in what to develop.
They started Flagship studios so they can make games as they like.
So MethidParadox, you should do some research before you start bashing every game that is not fallout.

While I think the sentiment here is probably what the actual game will be like, we should actually play it before trying to shoot it down. I'm just saying.

Macaco said:
I love Diablo and am anxiously looking forward for this game.

There, i said it.
*positions a thick brick wall between Macaco and the incoming hail of abuse*

Somehow I can already tell it's going to suck.

Must have something to do with the rule of thumb "the bigger the bosom, the worse the game"...
