It sounds like Hellgate: London Collector’s Edition will have some nice pack-ins. Of course I usually go for the regular edition because my desires for extras are countered with the realization that I wouldn’t have anyplace to put them. What’s everyone here’s take on collector’s edition extras?

If you were planning Fallout 3’s extras what would you pick?

I am a sucker for "making of" stuff. Especially Hellgate since it feature extensive Zbrush3 work. Also love graphic novels.

A fallout3 map would be pretty good and the manual i would make into a nice vault guide ala f1 and f2 documents. Maybe a hardcover science book on atomic physics would be nice extra :)

After watching the intro and some of the demo movies I have to say that this game looks kind of cheesy. It doesn't make sense that they have armor with neon lights all over it. You may as well say "hey demons, I'm over here, come and get me". I think Bioshock looks a lot better.

the game isnt suppoed to make any sense at all, it's just hack n slay...

also i might say i might have an alpha key, might have played the game, and might like it, apart from the fact that the graphics aren't the best, the quests are pretty dull, the game is very linear and the skills are kind of few and not special...
also i miss the dark atmosphere which diablo 2 certainly had

the subway stations and everything just dont look as destroyed as the should be

they all seem to be having a good time and no problems, with the daemons posing no real threat.. and the music isnt as good (not in quality, but in atmosphere) as the one of diablo 2 which was close to perfect in that surrounding

while the game is going to be a USK 16+ / 18+ game it looks to me like the game was targeted to younger people..

i fear the game will soon become too monotone for me, only because of its simpleness, so that i cant have fun with it anymore

but the game is just in its alpha and they still can do a lot of stuff, so i m still looking forward to the game i ve most been looking forward to for months, but my first impression wasnt the best

FO1+FO2
I'd go with that, though I dunno if Bethesda's got the rights to publish the other Fallouts. Throw in a little pipboy/vaultboy figure too. And for regular AND limited/collector's editions, make a goddamn good Fallout manual. Doesn't have to be spiral bound (Though it'd be nice), but make it worth reading. Then top it all off with the generic soundtrack and "Making of" discs and charge $10 extra.

Fallout 3 CE should have a finished Van Buren.

Also a cloth map.

Shit, a miss cloth maps.

The great days of Origin and Ultima.

Cloth maps, detailed manuals, little trinkets.

Those days are long gone. Enjoy your PDF manual and quick reference card.

Yes. I'll trade that for a t-shirt done well though. Instead of the chump-lets-make-use-of-negative-space-since-we-have-no-ideas-crap we usually get. I really miss cloth maps too, but I dont know if this world of FO3 is going to be fleshed out enough for one.

Heeh. The suit would probably be finger-sized. I'm not sure I'd ingest anything from Bethesda or the FO3 world. Soylent green iguanas on a stick come to mind :puppy-dog:

What about the incredible Neverwinter Nights 1 mapkin?

Though on the topic of maps and Bethesda, if they do throw a map in with Fallout 3 normal and/or limited, I hope they make it useful like Morrowind's map instead of fairly crappy like Oblivion's. I remember looking at Morrowind's map and going "Hey, a ruin over here. I THINK I SHALL GO EXPLORE THAT" and heading off into the hills eyeballing it. Oblivion basically just shows you cities which are all pre-mapped at the start of the game anyway. Plus Morrowind's map showed you where the statue of Azura was so you could go get the super soulgem. Mmmm.

It'd be kinda cool if they do it up like a pre-war normal roadmap with things scribbled on it warning of radiation and crap.

Yeah that NWN map was pretty lame. Same with the manual. It's like they included the map and made the manual spiral-bound just to soullessly fulfill some obligation to fans.

I predict the FO3 manual will probably have a recipe for some cocktail in the back (because cooking is sooo turn-based and outdated and drinking is what cool kids do).

Something like this but named teh nuklear catapault. You line up 5 of them in a row.

To be fair, I don't really remember the BG2 manual being much worth reading apart from flipping to the spell lists to try to puzzle out esoteric AD&D rules. I somehow lost my BG2 manual even though the god damn thing is a beast, so I can't check. Hell, lost my FO2 manual somewhere too. At least FO1's is kept in sight at all times.
