Help Request for a large FONV mod planned...

First time out of the vault
Before you close this, please hear me out.

I would like to organize a group to work on a mod for Fallout New Vegas based on the Van Buren documents.
The idea would be to create as close a version to the original blueprints as possible within the scope of GECK. Basically, we would need people to mod a new world map, interior maps for various areas, write scripts for various NPCs, even some new textures if possible.

Notes for the project:
Design Documents for Van Buren were found at the Fallout Wiki
Ceasar's Legion is not active yet as the Van Buren notes state the Prisoner escapes 2 years before Ceaser takes over Flagstalf
The opening would have surgery performed on the Prisoner after an altercation, allowing for facial reconstruction (Character Creation).
The tutorial could be a training program designed for early release candidates.
The escape would be the first quest line, and I believe the place we should start.
World space would be next, followed by various areas depending on the order preferred by the majority of people working on the project.
More would be discussed via PM or E-mail based on preference of participants.

Please let me know if you are interested in participating, I think it would be a fun project to take on as a group.

The worldmap would be way too big. Either you split it up like the worldmap would have been in the game- many small locations connected via a travel map, or you can simply forget about it. Van Buren was meaned to become a huge game. Based on the design docs probably even bigger than Fallout 2.

About the rest of the idea... Well, I think it's way too big. There have been many mods in the past years who wanted to do the same (in Fallout 2 engine and in FOnline engine) and none of them are active today, none have ever been released. Probably partly also because the released design docs were incomplete and it is a lot work to fill up all the gaps (and write the dialogues, especially).

I'd say you should do something small first. Very small. Like, if you finish one of the smallest locations, it will be good already.

heh reminds me of the mod I would like to do one day; Tibbet's Facility.
It is based on the ideas for the Prison by the Black Isle team but re imagined to fit Fallout New Vegas' lore with a few references to VB.
I kind of envision the mod as an unofficial 'fifth' SP DLC that could tie into other new chapters but can also exists on its own. (I have come to realize that you should never plan ahead for sequels)

After following a mysterious radio signal to the Searching Airport where the player comes across a woman hiding in the main terminal building and several destroyed eye bots with the Tibbet's facility/prison logo on it.
The woman is an escaped prisoner from Tibbet's who has been chased by its robots all the way to Nevada, actions on your part earlier have resulted her being located by them again.

Before you can question her she flees the scene and when you chase after her you find her unconscious outside with a massive robot standing over her.
Before you know what happens the robot knocks you as well, and when you finally regain consciousness you find yourself trapped with dozens of other wastelanders in Tibbet's, a pre war automated prison that has recently re activated and has started to randomly round up people.

ODYSSEUS, the automatic warden quickly realizes that you were brought here by mistake by its servant ARGOS, but it can not just simply let you out again.
A recent escape attempt has caused significant damage to the prison and resulted in ODYSSEUS loosing control over certain parts.
Before it can let you out again and return you to the Mojave you need to assist it first with regaining control over these parts and round up the loose prisoners again.

Of course the player can also decide instead to work together with the prisoners and organize a successful prison escape.
But as the player learns more about the prison, ODYSSEUS, and its mission the player comes to realize that helping these prisoners regain their freedom might not be such a good idea after all.

I still want to do that project one day.
