Help! Sudden Fallout2 Death Syndrome (Possible Spoilers)

First time out of the vault
All right, I'm playing through Fallout 2 having a grand old time. My character is Level 26 and things are good. I've gotten the GECK and been back to Arroyo. I decide to wait for a while before going to San Francisco and completing the game. I go exploring and uncover about 93% of the map. While doing this about three years in game time pass from the beginning of the game until I get to San Francisco. Just before getting there I run into some aliens and completely slaughter them. Unfortunately I also get badly irradiated. So before I can reach San Francisco I die suddenly. No big deal, figured it was just from the radiation so I reload my game from right after I killed all of them. This time I get to San Fran and take some rad-away so I'm perfectly healthy. I do a few quests but then when I try to rest, I die suddenly at 1600 hours exactly. I have full health before resting and am not radiated or poisoned. So what the hell? I can't rest and I can't leave San Fran because at exactly 1600 I fall over dead. I thought at first that it might be a time limit, but from what I've heard there isn't one. Has this happened to anyone else or is there anything I can do?
 
Actually there is a time limit , if you play for more than 13 years game time, the game ends with a picture of a nuclear blast

I'm experiencing a very similar/the same problem. I die from radiation sickness, although i'm not radiated, at full health and not even poisoned! Even the geiger counter shows zero rads.

My time comes on the 19. August 2245 at around 8 o'clock.

I'm currently level 34 and spend a lot of time in the wastes. I use the Encounter Booster, but as it seems my pc isn't as fast, as it was supposed to for it, so I'm getting a lot of random encounters. I have explored >80% of the world map too.

Please help!
 
What happens to your character on the local map at 1600? You might get some death text explaining what the deal is.

And what is the game over narration? I think for radiation, the narrator explicitly says something to the effect of, "Not even the vultures will pick from your irradiated bones."

Could be one of your stats are lowered to 0 or below due to drug use.
I can't remember if you die if any of them are below 1 or if it's just EN though. Try taking some buffout just before you usually die.

And check the textbox for any irregularities.

Thanks a ton! I know this is a necropost, but I googled my way here and your advice allowed me to keep playing. I had the same dilemma, I thought it was radiation, but radaway did nothing for me.
Turns out my charisma had dropped to 0. Being an unlikable person will quite literally kill you, I guess.
 
You can remove the time limit by changing some text in some file. Try searching for how to do it.
