Yes, because it looks better.

This is so easy when a person makes more fun of himself than I realistically could.

Are you sure he's being serious?

I can't tell. His previous posts aren't that... elaborate either. Either way, it's not even cool to joke about the originals being not "that great". Blasphemer!

I'm sure as hell he's pulling someone's leg.

Also, that folding stock on the Chuck's rifle (and the Chuck himself) cause antipathy in me. The screens are not "new" as it's written there, I've seen those before (in the French PCJeux) - they seem to be of the higher resolution only.

Chuck Norris doesn't sleep. He waits.

Oh man, if Bethesda is emphasizing graphics, then they double fail. Those screenshots, particularily the last one - suck terribly.

I usually don't complain about graphics, but for a video game that intentionally sacrifices the best gameplay to ever bless video gaming, for graphics.. I mean.. come on. Anti-aliasing!

it looks certainly good, except for the characters

but however, it isn't fallout at all
i mean, cowboys? orcs? extreme violence?

Extreme Violence was in Fallout. Have you never shot someone with an energy weapon before? You could cut them in half, scorch them, set people on fire, blow them into pieces with a rocket launcher, make them dance to bullets with the chaingun, turn them into a pile of ash.. the list goes on and on.

As for the cowboys and orcs, I'm pretty sure we're all tired talking about the things that this game is lacking.

Fallout 2 had cowboys. Remember Redding?

I wish people would stop drying to defend design decision in Fallout 3 based upon the crappy design decisions of Fallout 2. Fallout 2 had talking plants, talking deathclaws, cowboys, a maffia town, monthy python in random encounters, childish references all throughout. Just because Fallout 2 had those things isn't a good reason to shove 'em back in. Fallout 2 also had buggy, unfinished designs and locations. Want those back?

Hah, if Fallout 3 was as bad as a sequel as Fallout 2, that would still make it a great game.

Fallout 2's crappy setting was redeemed by its excellent RPG design. That doesn't excuse its crappy setting.

yes of course it was violent

but not uber-violent like bethesda is going for with fallout 3
you also could totally avoid violence, or switch it off in the settings,..
bethesda gives you no chance to avoid it, and acts like the violence was essentially important in fallout.. so you now run around with the bloody mess perk, violence switch on the highest level + 1 and should accept this as "fallouty" or even as humour

I must admit I am warming to the level design somewhat. The scrap town (one with the cowboy) looks quite nice imo, this doesn't redeem or make up for the gameplay though.

The baggy vault suits still wind me up. Was Vault 101's 'experiment' that they would all be issued oversized jumpsuits? The horror! Guess all that baggy clothing is to blame for the gang culture that arose. :P

We don't even know that yet. If they had at least SOME common sense, they would allow us to turn down violence. :|

Just a little suggestion to make your posts a little more readable:
Use the shift key.

I agree, Bethesda's version of humor is way off the scale. They do seem like giddy teenagers every time they get over enthusiastic about the level of violence in the third installment(Ha!) of Fallout.
