Got it yesterday and I must say it's great, although I must warn about the save system which is extremely crappy: It deletes your in level saves when you finish the level but also if you exit the game and if the game crashes. That basically means that if you (after hours of playing) finish a level and your computer crashes after loading the next level (happened to me a few times and has been reported many times on the eidos fora too) you will have to restart the level. Same thing if you finish 99% percent of the level but than have to exit the game.

Oh, and also, whatever you do, don't use the 1.1 patch which is already out as it invalidates the old savegames and crashes the game after the training level on some configurations.

But the gameplay has been spruced up nicely with new notoriety levels and ratings, the graphics are gorgeous (ZOMG! graphix whore LOLZORZ!!11!!*), there are some now moves in 47's arsenal (melee combat is, for a lack of a better word, cool), and the story is (as always) really interesting.

*I've always found the Hitman engines to be superior to others in regards of demand - performance/eyecandy ratio.

Yeah the Hitman games have always been great eye-candy, but I think my PC won't be able to handle this one.

Saw a few previews for it and looks amazing. Will it be released on console?

Concerning that; there have been some issues with FX 5xxx cards. Apparently they were supposed to be supported but they are not. A patch is expected (maybe).

And yes it's out on consoles.

Hmm, hopefully the console port isn't as bad as I'm expecting it to be, but I'd rather buy it on PC.

Storyline any good? Does it follow on from the others?

(No spoliers please)

Well, from what I can tell so far the main story arc looks good but the plots of individual missions are genius.

And definetely get it on PC, I can't imagine playing this game on a controller.

Sounds great. I had Hitman Silent Assasin on Xbox, and that game was the greatest I had played for a long while, until, that is, Hitman contracts came out.

But I'll check it out, and hopefully my PC can withstand the game.

Indeed, in my opinion it is the best in the series. I'm currently on my third play through of the game, now tackling the expert mode. Loads of replayability, just an excellent game all around. How many levels can you guys do with the ranking of silent assasin? So far, I can do three  . Care to share some methods?

i was tempted to play it. until i saw a screenshot of 'the crows'.

fuck that.

looks ridiculous to me. totally breaks the mood.

go go kentucky fried chicken salesmen!

To be fair, that level is set during Mardi Gras. What should assasins who are trying to look inconspicuos wear in those kind of places? It kind of does make sense.

I suppose one gripe i do have about the atmosphere of the game is the Missisippi section. The south can't be that retarded, can it?

I've only finished five levels but only two with Silent Assassin rating (the last two), and I have no idea why. I did everything perfectly in the first three.

Yes, yes it can be, yes it is at times. There are sections of the south you have to wonder how they escaped evolution.

Nearly every stereotype you hear about the South is true. At least somewhere.

I had only completed 3 levels as Silent Assasin, but I think this was on the first few levels, where the missions aren't overally difficult.

I can't remember any tactics for Silent Assasin, but for most of it I avoided anything that moved...

I'm quite prowd of completing A dance with the devils on silent assasin. Here is my tactic:

Take the silver ballers (silenced). Drop them in a place where no one will find em. Go into the office. Speak to the guy. Sedate him in the back room and take his clothes. Go into the parking garage. Behind a truck is a heaven party member. Take it, and go to the heaven party. Wait until Martinez talks the woman, this meens he is going down to the hell party. Get in the elevator first, and get on top of it. Once he steps in, fiber wire him. Steal his clothes, and suit case. Go down to where you left the ballers, and pick them up again. Enter the hell party without any problems. Go the bar. Duel him in the torture chamber with the FN2000 from the rifle case. Once he is down, put it away. Walk out, and find the woman you must kill. Go into the private room, and execute her with the ballers, making sure no one can see. Leave, and go back up to heaven. Attract the singer. Run into the room she leads you to, then look at the lap top. When she comes in, wait for the door to close, then excecute her. Go down to the parking garage, and escape. Mission complete. Silent Assasin.

It really isn't to hard actually. I'm yet to perfect one bit, but the rest is pretty solid, and can so far do it on specialist. I reckon if i can get a guards uniform without killing one, i can easily do it on silent assasin. I'll test my theory later, and if it works, post my method.

i always tried playing the missions with only the standard equipment. no shooting. only "accidents" and if an accident was impossible fibre wire or poison.

but maybe ill start the game again and finish the missions using sniper rifles, silenced pistols etc.. should be a whole new experience. great game.

one more thing:

as you might already know hollywood is making a Hitman movie. Vin Diesel will be Agent 47 (wrong choice in my opinion).

Vinnie Jones should be the hitman. just look at this picture.

what do you think

Well, I just got it, excellent all-around game.

As for obtaining Silent Assassin ratings on any level, it isn't really that hard, but you can't kill anyone. You have to arrange everything as an accident, make sure there are no witnesses and such. Which basically means you have to push people, use sedatives and use the remotely detonated bomb to set up accidents. Obtain guards uniforms by sedating people, never use anything lethal (which means no wire, no poison, no guns, no killing people with the bomb).
It can be really tough, but it's doable. I've so far done three levels, all with Silent Assassin, and the fourth one is looking good as well.

EDIT: I said no such thing. :look:

Hehehe, you said firewire.

And you can use the poison, I executed marks twice using poison and once using the bomb and still got the silent assassin rating.

I'm still not sure why some levels rate me as silent assassin and some don't...

Still haven't fired a weapon once though. Which is very cooleo.

Heh, odd. I used the poison in the AA level on the liquor stash, and it listed as a murder and not an accident, and it didn't give me a silent assassin rating. So I went through the level again, doing the exact same thing but rigging the death in an other way, and then I did have the SA rating.

Ah well.
