Hitman: Blood Money

Heh, odd. I used the poison in the AA level on the liquor stash, and it listed as a murder and not an accident, and it didn't give me a silent assassin rating. So I went through the level again, doing the exact same thing but rigging the death in an other way, and then I did have the SA rating.

Ah well.

I actually "adminstered" the poison straight into the marks neck... Maybe that's the thing. Or maybe there's just some obscure detail that determines it...

I'm not really sure when it takes place though, haven't thought too much about it, but if I had to guess I'd say before and after the main event from Contracts. (47's wounding is mentioned early in the game.)

It takes place after hitman 2, the early missions during contracts, and then mid game a briefing mentions "its good to have you back", meening this is where contracts has ended (thank god, it was shite...). The missions later then this point are the most "recent" acts by 47.

Indeed. I just completed the sucky, sucky Mardi Gras level, didn't eschew violence, still got Silent Assassin.

Generally, though, what you need to adhere to is: no direct kills and don't be seen. That's about it. It seems to really depend on the level, too.

It takes place in late 2004 (well, the story arc takes place in the present day, the hits take place in 2004), so that would probably around Contracts, yeah.

Strange, all my kills are very direct in A Dance with the Devil, yet i get silent assasin. The terms of rank must change from mission to mission.

In the earlier games, Silent assasin was awarded when you killed no-one else than you target, and shot only one round at best.

Did it change?

Yep. Because in Flatline I had to kill the three with accidents, and couldn't kill them with poison. In A New Life I could use something lethal (although probably no guns), and in The Murder of Crows I could basically do whatever I wanted.

How can you not like Murder of Crows, it's incredible, I still can't figure out how they pulled of literally hundreds of characters on screen without so much as even a hitch. When I first saw it I couldn't believe my eyes.

Unless you're talking about how easy it was and that the whole "ZOMG! B craefull, they haev walkyz-talkyz and they go krazy if U kill 1 of them!!!111!!" which seems to me is unimplemented...

Well, yeah, graphically it was decent (they probably just used low-poly models), but the level was way easy and really annoying to play. It's ridiculous really. Especially the 'Hey, my boss is dead right next to that dude I've never seen before, who could possibly have done this? Who did this? Why's he taking his wallkie-talkie? Ah well, who could have done this??'

yeah, that is well ... naive but if they were scripted to be some paranoid to the bone mofos and kill you if you coughed in a way the didn't like around the boss the game would be no fun...
Another example would be Bloodlines, hell you can sneak a lot and not get caught... hell with a sneak of 3 or 4 I could kill a guy right in fro0nt of the guy he was talking to without him noticing me (silent kill). Then he would walk around me asking "who is there?" and "I know you are out there"... But if they were all alert and able to spot me from a decent distance I would get FUBAR in no time at all so I'd rather have it this way... But then again that's just me, I try to focus on the upside if the game is decent.

There's a lot of different options between 'I just left this dude alone in the office with my boss, now my boss's neck is snapped, you know, I think he did it.' and 'AH! HE WALKS! DIE!'

Eh, sure, I love this game. It's excellent. Except for some minor things like that.

Hitman Blood money

So I'm about halfway through this game. I like it, a lot. It's really a lot nicer to play than the previous games, since the AI is better. I also like the Mississipi/redneck setting. The mardi gras thing in New Orleans was really cool, with hundreds of civilians walking around, you had to find your targets. There are loads of ways to kill your targets, and you get different ratings depending on how you do it. The coolest way has got to be by "accidents", like pushing people over railings from mountaintops, having various extremely heavy objects falling down on their heads from heights. The list goes on a little, although so far it's been pretty repetitive. A smoke break against the railing here, a piano hanging in a loose wire there.

Very nice graphics though, and barely any glitches anywhere. But the environmental interaction can be tough, sometimes, especially when there are tons of objects lying around and you're in a hurry. I guess this can be solved by entering first person mode, I've never tried.

The music is excellent, as usual with these series. Sound effects are pretty cool too.

One thing bothers me though. The different difficulty levels. I'd like to play on Pro, the toughest one, but the lack of saving keeps me away, so I tend to play on Rookie, which is the easiest. The problem there though is the accomodating AI (oh, you just HAPPENED to stand with your back turned to me facing that huge container where I could just stash your corpse where nobody would find you). There really should be an option to make a custom difficulty, with both advanced AI and infinite saving, like Splinter cell. I, for one, don't think infinite saving has much to do with difficulty, as the game tends to be much about trial and error.

I give the game a high 8/10 so far, but I suspect it still holds some surprises, and I might share them later on. I can definitely recommend it to any fan, since I personally think it's nicer to have time to think and plan your move than having to stress out to time your kill.

I'd post screenshots of my awesome hits, but I have it on Xbox.

Time to merge threads...theres another one just down a page.

Yay new moderator skills!

Where'd those buttons go!?

You're not a supermoderator, TVD. You can moderate the news forum, that's it. Silly, silly you.

But, y'know, there was already a page. Merging.

EDIT: If Pro is too hard, and rookie too easy why not try going for normal? I mean, it does seem like the logical choice, doesn't it?
And you won't ever need all those 7 saves anyway.
