I'm having a blast the last few days in Combat Mission and it reminded me of this possibility, so I figured to ask for comment on the simultaneous turn-based system and it's applicability to RPGs, specifically FO3.
For the benighted out there that don't know what a simultaneous turn-based system is, if you pleyed Wizardry 7 you should know what I'm talking about. Both you and the computer opponent give orders at the same time, then the turn is executed. I remember it being quite nail-biting at times.
The good side of this system is that it's a much more realistic way of representing combat and yet it retains the turn-based idea of being able to carefully think and plan your actions. Also, things like dexterity, luck etc. all play a major role in determining who strikes first, who gets out of the way of a spell, etc.
If nothing, this would at least make sequence and it's associated perks useful.
What do you think?
