How are Pre Rendered Objects made?

First time out of the vault
Hi I'm a 3D artist I know Max, Maya and a few others and I have never attempted to make any models that are intended for a Pre Rendered Game?
I was trying to find all the sprites and animations for this game on these boards but I can't find every threat.
I have no idea if Fallout 1 + 2 + Tactics are pre rendered but is it possible to make the sprites like Houses, buildings, enemies, weapons etc... with a 3D model and render them than prepare them for a new game (as in any game engine not just the fallout mods)?
I guess what I'm asking here, is it possible to make Sprites that can be loaded in the fallout engine with 3D modeling? Or are these sprites only made from 2D artists?

You need to render your models in a certain angle and use a certain rendering/dithering method. Else, it just looks bad and not fitting.

I just realized that even if I had a complete sprite sheet for all animations and sprites from the game the characters are going to be difficult to animate in Game Editor. I just tried to get someones custom sprite from these boards to animate walking forward from a standing position and it moved out of place because they were not done in the same position from their original GIF files.
Any suggestions?

If you search back a little you can find plenty of information about the scene setup for max (you just need to go back 1 or 2 pages) to put the rendered stuff in Fallout engine you would need and frm converter for example frame animator. And this answers your other question too sprites are in frm format except tactics
About creating a new game the idea is good but there have been plenty of tryings in the past years most of them ended up as nothing, so I'm not sure if you would be able to make it alone so I would suggest doing something smaller.

Well I found the Max file and it works fine but still I think I can make a Fallout clone, I plan to make it with Game Editor over time.
My real problem is animating the sprites from Fallout (also finding them all) do you know of any threads that contain environmental sprites? Like the houses and floors in fallout?
Even if I plan to do something smaller if it turns out to be too much work I would still want fallout graphics which I cannot draw or make just in 3D.

Thanks it is really more as an on going project when I'm out, you see I hope that Game Editor gets ported to the Open Pandora Hand Held device so I can edit and make games on the go. This way I can work on this project whenever I need to and I might actually get some work done.
