How do you find a specific sound file and change it?

Hey fellow Non-Muties, I want to change some sound files in Fallout 2 but I'm having trouble. This is my first time really modding anything in a game but sound files seem easy enough but I can't find the file that I want to mod. I looked at the SNDLIST.LST in notepad but there is so many and I can't figure out how they correspond to the game. Is there anywhere I can go to find out which one I need?
