How Many Weapons Should You Carry?

DwayneGAnd

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
Considering that weapons have strength requirement, that certain weapons are heavier than others and take into consideration the weight of your armor and all of items and equipment you carry, how many weapons should you carry? Should you focus on only one type of weapon such as Guns, Energy Weapons, Melee, Unarmed, Explosives? Or can you use all types of weapons? Should you have at least one melee ranged weapon with long ranged weapons?

What do you all use?

I almost exclusively use the Anti-material rifle. Also gatlin laser and knock knock. That's usually what I have at all times.

Note that some weapons have Strength requirements in order to better use them. Also, I tend to make high Intelligence characters to get more skill points to distribute.

For me, I mainly use the Holorifle, the Anti-Material rifle, and a 12.6 mm SMG. Since I generally rely on Sneak, I make sure to take out most opponents before they realize there's someone picking them off.

EDIT: Forgot to read the OP's post properly. I can't believe I missed the Strength requirement thing.

I mainly use melee or unarmed weapons. Usually I use carrot weapons which Chucksteel so nicely made for me as a TTW mod before I could mod anything myself (and even now I couldn't have pulled such awesome carrot weapons like the ones he made).

The killer carrots mod also includes carrot knifes, throwing carrots, carrot spears, the Salad Shooter which is an altered Railway Rifle that shoots carrots, etc.

Yeah I am weird...

If you're playing a ranged character, I would suggest having a handful of different weapons to suit any situation. I usually have a sidearm, automatic, sniper, and something that goes boom. This isn't a strict rule I use, I just try to have every angle covered when I head out into the Mojave.

Average low level gear:
10mm pistol, 9mm submachine gun, Ratslayer, and grenade rifle.
Average late game gear:
Light Shining in the Darkness, 12.7mm submachine gun, Anti-Materiel Rifle, and Mercy. Make sure to stock up on specialty ammo. Explosive .50MG and 40mm plasma grenades are devastating.

Would this be a good idea of combinations?

Yeah, these look like very solid builds. Also, Survivalist's Rifle is not automatic. :ok:

Then:

Grunt

Sniper-All American
Sidearm-Light Shining In Darkness
Automatic-Assault Carabine
Rifle-Survivalist's Rifle
Explosive-Grenade Launcher or Thump-Thump
Other-Vance's 9mm SMG or Light Machine Gun

Also, I almost forgot about this:

Pyromaniac

Melee-Gehenna or Saturnite Fist Superheated
Sidearm-Sonic Emitter Tarantula
Automatic-Cleansing Flame
Explosive-Esther, Annabelle, Red Glare, or Mercy
Other-Incinerator or Heavy Incinerator

Also, for melee builds, should you have some long ranged backup weapons? For long ranged builds, should you have something melee ranged such as fist weapons or blade/blunt weapons if the enemy gets too close?

What if you're a character who specializes in Explosive Weapons? Or is that not a good idea? Is Explosives best used as a secondary attack skill?
