How often do you steal?

Graveworm

It Wandered In From the Wastes
in Fallout world, of course

as for me, I never bought anything. everything is found, picked up from my victims or just stolen. and probably nothing is sold - it's thrown away.

Well, stealing in Fallout2 is harder than 1. In Fallout3, I havent done much of that sort of build and planting or whatnot.

I always wanted to know what was a very high level of steal skill in FO2. It seems to fail even near 70% still. Does it need to be 125%+ or something?

I will tag it on a thief build, my next one.

thief/diplomatic seems to fit.

I always steal. Around 65 per cent of the stuff that comes by ... I stole it. I never had a steal over 30 and stole almost everything I could get my hands on. I am playing FO1 now I am level 5 and I have 10 000 caps that were stolen and earned by selling stolen stuff my steal skill is 10

well, you can make quite a lot of exp if you have it above 45% or so.

You can steal 5-6 items deep at times. I never got the pickpocket thing yet.

I have near 130 or so. but sometimes it fails too

Always... at least in the beginning.

I like steal.
In fallout 2 I rob almost every person in Klamath, Den, Modoc and many times in Vault City and New Reno. I gain many levels swiftly (8-9) 8-)

I like put 80-85% in Steal (I tag it to raise it quickly) but no more.

Remember: it's easy steal small things and from behind.

In fallout 2 I never found stealing very useful, I found lockpicking more useful. In fallout 1 when more shop keepers seemed to hold their inventories it seemed really useful.

I always murder tubby and flick in the den.

My entire arsenal of weapons in Fallout 2 has been stolen from other people. It's a great way to be.

Killing Tubby and Flick awards a positive karma gain I believe. (Could be wrong been awhile)
either way the gain or loss is minimal and your ammo//weapon troubles are over.

I never have that problems as my char is named Buffy ( ) and I steal pistol from Smitty

The admissions of rampant stealing in this thread is the reason why we're still debating whether to put a "stealing" skill of any sort into Shelter.

eh. Steal is essential to any good rpg.

You can make things unstealable with a bad skill. You can make opponents very wise and perceptive and make it near impossible.

You can also have quests where you HAVE to steal, or stealing is an alternative. Morrowind was great like that.

RPG:
fighter
thief
mage
cleric

no steal, no thief!

The Fallout 1-2 is all about stealing. That's my "special perk", always. :D

In Fallout 3. I never steal. You get so much money, there is enough weapons and ammo. You don't need to steal anything. You can sell trash (rusty tin cans, old useless books) too.

meh, killing is much more fun [2]

specially after you kill a very powerful enemy, its almost like grabbing your trophy, getting that kicking arse weapon he has!

How about a combo, where you place a nice grenade or dynamite on their person and watch him/her explode and then take their stuff? That's always fun.
