Human Critter Anims & Armor

RadioactiveGirlfriend

Myron's Babysitter
Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any pointers on how to apply different armor sets to human critter anims?
For context, I'm looking to possibly fix some of the problems in the known issues section with this mod here to add a black female player character.

It does link to a tutorial that involves cutting and pasting body parts onto the different armor animations frame by frame, but I feel that's not very viable here due to the fact that its a character of a different skin tone. Would I likely be better off putting a brown tint mask or something like that over the skin of the pre-existing player character's animations (frame by frame), rather than trying to fill in the missing spots for this mod? Or, what about making edits of some of Lynette's sprites and animations? Basically I have not much clue on where to really *start* with this project.
(Note: I'm not against having to make things from scratch, if it comes to that)

Any help or suggestions is really appreciated. I'd really like to be able to get a bit more progress going on this mod in any capacity, so that there's the option of a black female character like there is for males.

Thanks!

Oh man, I wish you will fix that. A black female character is really needed.

I think Lynette will look better, but this model looks good as well. A point has been made in the past in at least one thread about using old vanilla assets and modifying them, thus keeping the original style.

A few things about applying different armor sets:

Each NPC look is its own set. That means that the Myron (vanilla, white shirt) look is a set. Dog is a set. Rat is a set. Female black hair vault jumpsuit is a set. Sulik (vanilla, tribal mohawk) is a set. Bald guy leather armor (Metzger) is a set and so on. That means each time you switch armor in-game, it loads a different set of frames.

Each armor, proto, has a female look and a male look. This can be edited with an item editor. There can be only one male look and one female look. When you wear your armor, it changes your frame set accordingly.

That being said, today you can do pretty much everything with scripting with relative ease, so there is no problem with having multiple races, haircuts, or even species if you want to turn yourself into a pig-rat.

You can search for info about the "appearance mod" and try to see the script it uses.
